     ❝ don’t worry ! it can’t be that bad - let’s see here . . .❞ dipper assures , chest puffed & brows furrowed - doing his very best to convince this other kid , and himself , that he has everything completely under control . he tips open the journal , sweat trickling more readily down his forehead with each hurried turn of the pages . a little panicked noise catches in his throat, the journal quickly snapped shut & returned to the pocket sewn into the inside lining of his vest . ❝ okay nevermind , oh man , this is bad - this is REALLY bad . ❞

eddie kasprzak wants to be friends with norman b/abcock the second he moves out of derry and into blithe hollow because eddie starts forgetting already about everything except this strange premonition that he cannot forget this thing or....else (ooh! spooky scary). he’s unable to remember anything specific from his past except these grave feelings of terror and unease he felt through that summer and then being around norman in his ghosty (i don’t have a better word for this) world creates that same feeling he felt all through derry and he thinks that it’s the same as remembering so he keeps following him around despite hating the danger of it all because damn he just wants to remember it because he has to

‘once i heard someone say that liking salt and vinegar chips is like stockholm syndrome. you know? they’re torturous to you, literally hell on the tongue, but you can’t help but stay, and keep eating em’.’ she eyes the chip aisle. none of them are salt and vinegar, so she’s not even sure where the thought came from. ‘actually, now that i think about it, maybe i’m the one who said that. what do you think? salt and vinegar? yay or nay?’

❝          .      .      .       .          ❞            no    need    to    seek    trouble   when   it    always   seemed   to    find    him   ,     chasing    him    whether   he   wanted    it    or   not .       a   bad    kid   ,    a    troubled    kid .       (      a     kid     in   the   wrong   place   at   the   wrong   time .     )       easy   enough   to   peg   the   blame    on    him    for    any   and    all    disturbances   of    the    peace .      it    was    a    role   he   was    used   to   ,    though   not    one    he   was   necessarily   pleased   with .      had    he    stolen    the    class    lizard   ?       NO .      was    he    about    to    get    the   blame   ?         HE    HAD   NO   DOUBT  .      but    what    was    even    worse    was   sitting   outside    of    the   office   waiting   ,    especially    when    seated   next   to    eddie    kasprzak    ,     science   project   partner   and    soon    to    be    collateral    damage     .    .    .    or    maybe    to    be    damning    evidence   ,      he    wasn’t    quite    sure .      silence     stretches    on    ,     broken    only    by    the    quiet    tick   -    tock    of    the    clock .      silence    that    becomes    almost    unbearable     until         ––––           ❝         .     .     .    i    didn’t   take   the    lizard .          ❞         /      @kasprzaks​

“Do you think you’ll ever leave?”

It might sound like a stupid question. All that anyone does in this town is talk about getting out of it, and for good reason. Derry is a place where things go to die, or things end up dead even if they don’t want to be. Forrest has seen enough ghosts to know that first hand.

“And not like, y’know, do you want to leave. Because I know we all do, but do you think you’ll actually do it? I get really scared sometimes that I’ll never actually manage.”

it should not make him smile, and it doesn’t really, but it makes his face soften just the slightest bit. eddie is not perfect, but forrest is not looking for perfect. it’s enough that he is trying. that he has found a vague meaning for the sign just by remembering something. it might be a low bar, but it is something.

“stay.” it’s just one word, and he really does have to force it out. and instead of repeating himself like he usually does, he signs the word afterwards a couple of times. stay. stay. hopefully that gets the message across.

the request is signed rather than actually said out loud, because he just cannot handle the idea of speech. and while he knows eddie is trying to help him out, the idea of being seen is just a little bit too vulnerable right now. the tears running down his cheeks make him feel evil. awful. like a failure.

so his face is hidden between his knees, but only for seconds at a time. after all, he is much too nervous of a person to not constantly check on his surroundings. even when miserable.
