So when do we start talking about the fact that Laurent vs Kastor is really "Laurent vs the version of Damen he built up inside his head for years as a grieving child"? Because Kastor is everything Laurent thought Damen was. And by killing him, it not only closes an arc of younger brother killing an older brother, but also closes Laurent's personal arc because he kills to protect someone he loves, not to avenge someone long gone. His ghosts are finally allowed to be put to rest. That, and also if it hadn't been for Kastor (as well as the Regent), then so many people might still be alive, Auguste included.

I don't think Jokaste expected Damen to live tbh. I feel like she was gaslighting him at the end like "girl i knew you'd dodge! That's why i shot you!". Babygirl probably expected to be a regent afer her kids birth and kastors "untimely death". I can't blame her for trying, Damen was a spoiled lil brat (complement) and kastor was a ticking time bomb

I'm secretly glad that Kastor attempted (and failed) to kill Damen a second time because know Damen needed to witness with his own eyes how his brother betrayed him again.

If Kastor had surrendered, Damen's kind ass would have likely placed him under house arrest in the damn palace, where he would have all the comforts. Kastor didn't deserve such an easy and comfortable ending
