📽️ Purple Hearts (2022)

Ok here’s the deal. This was a great story, and it could have been really good. However, I do not believe Sofia Carson was the best choice for this movie. I get that she is/was a Disney singer, but her voice is so annoying. They played that stupid song so many times, and it was annoying every time. And why was her hair tucked into her top all the time? I just can’t get past her. I think I really would have liked the movie if they had focused on the story rather than her music. I’m not just trying to hate on Sofia Carson; that’s not what this is about. The point I’m trying to make is that I felt that the movie ended up being more about “how many times can we have her sing this song” than the actual love story. I liked the actual story; I could not stand her singing. Plus, this was just another Netflix movie spewing the same crap Netflix spews in all its new stuff. They need new writers instead of ones that are always stuffing the scripts with nonsense, trying to be relevant. People wanting to watch a movie labeled as a love story want to watch something fluffy and romantic, not political and feminist. It’s okay to have some of that, but Netflix has got to chill.

Sex/nudity: 3/10 (kissing, a couple mild sex scenes with no nudity or noise)

Violence: 3/10 (some war scenes, a fight, some blood and injuries shown)

Language: 4/10 (two f-words, some others scattered throughout)

Overall rating: 5/10
