we'd wake up in crumpled white bed sheets and watch the sunrise from your fire escape through sleepy eyelids and warm ourselves with mugs of coffee with cats on them and each other

we'd go out and spend all the money we had on us on an extravagant breakfast and give it all to a homeless man 

we'd go into a used bookstore and search every corner for crush and we'd buy it and tear out our favorite passages and lead them in parks for people to find

we'd go home and build a fort out of blankets and couch cushions and lie next to each other while listening to film scores

we'd buy a newspaper from the gas station on the corner and i'd cover your eyes with my hands as your finger slides as across the print

we'd go see the band that your fingers picked and i'd wear your ex-boyfriend's t-shirt that's balled up in the back of your closet and instead of commenting on the sadness in your eyes i'd twirl you around and sing the theme song of fresh prince of bel air

and when it's over we'd buy pizza from a street vendor and someone in too much of a hurry would knock you into me and i'd tell you how much i love you under the streetlights
