Maybe asking her if they could paint on one of the nearbycliffs was a bad idea, given the cramped space and thenumber of art supplies they had to bring, but the view wasspectacular. Nothing could rival her innate beauty, however,but he kept his mouth shut about that. Another “you’re gor-geous” and they might not have gotten anything done, savefor wrecking a new rock formation with their antics.
“You got paint on your nose, though.”
Before she could ask, he reached over and smeared a line ofgreen paint on her nose. Laughing, he stood up and set thecanvas on the ground in one fluid movement, ready to run forthe trees at a moment’s notice.

“Are you even giving me a CHOICE?”
He could hardly resist the playful lure of his mate, and a part of him suspected that she was aware of it. He did try and stand his ground for a few minutes, only for him to sigh loudly and stand up -- with her in his arms. There were a few dances back in the old country before the boys went off to the war, but he only danced with one or two women before running off to protect his country from the redcoats. He didn’t expect himself to turn into a dancing expert over- night, but he set her down on the edge of the dance floor.
Smiling at Carlisle, who had all but kept Kate company for most of the night, he pressed one hand behind his back, and held the other one out to her. He didn’t recognize the music, but silently noted the rhythm and tempo to give him an idea of how to move.

"You killed her family! Of course she's comin' after you!"
He throws his hands up in the air, half-tempted to shake some sense into the warrior princess. The first two seasons were alright, but it is the sudden arrival of Calisto -- a mythological figure, he remem- bers -- that doesn't seem to bode well for the lead. He barely considers the possibility that his running commentary could be heard throughout the house, or that his Southern accent is coming out more and more. One of his subtle quirks, apparently.
"Yes she's trouble! Don't you go under- estimatin' the capability of women to cause trou--"
The rest of his sentence is cut off when he feels someone sit on his lap; the scent of Kate's familiar lotion invades his senses and he settles an arm around her waist.
"Hey Katie. Did I disturb your painting again?"
