Where the hell do I begin??!! Well first off I want to just say that this episode revolving around Kat is something I never knew I needed. Her character embodies stan culture, there is no other way of putting it.
The life of a teenager who is antisocial in real life, but a freak online writing away...sexually expressing herself through her love of one direction. Though now it would be more relevant to kpop, we see y’all motherfuckers writing about jeongguk sexing you down, don’t play.
The reason as to why this is the episode is what possessed me to write away was because of the accuracy in which this episode portrays our culture of fanfiction specifically smut. I personally loved it!! I thought it was the most accurate depiction I have seen of how we as a generation are online. Typically they take away all the fanfiction and act as if we lack the ability to put together a sentence, but in all reality, we really sit here and write “7,000 word” smutty filled stories about the unrealistic possibility of one significantly famous individual sucking the life out of another.
Though I enjoyed it, I saw a lot of backlashes the show or this specific episode has received for the notorious LARRY scene.
Now if you are unaware of what was happening in the land of this community called or once known as the directioners (rip... more to my involvement) there used to be a subcategory of those crazed fans called Larry shippers. These were the individuals that had believed that Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles were involved with each other not only romantically, but sexually of course. They were so passionate about their beliefs that it actually deteriorated the relationship these men had with each other as well we with other people at least in public. With this in mind, if it was so overbearing that Louis and Harry themselves became aware of it who was to say that no one outside of this world would either.
This was a culture created in a world accessible to everyone, so it was bond to be portrayed by someone somehow. Was it intense yes, was it out there OF COURSE!!! Did it probably make Louis and Harry uncomfortable... I am pretty sure but everyone including them were aware of the nastiness that was being created through smut in real life by their fans and that was just as displeasing, the only difference between the readings and this scene was that there was actual visual of it. But it’s not like the crazy-ass lines that were read before weren’t wild and intensely descriptive. I get the outrage I do, but they (the writers) just portrayed the reality of what was being done. If that is unsettling then maybe you got a glimpse on how it feels for these celebrities to read about themselves fucking their best friend.
But besides these thoughts, I have shared... Kat is and will always remain that BITCH!
