Kandi & the Gang Trailer Reaction!

After the disastrous show that was Porsha’s Family Matters, I’m ready for something fun and new from Atlanta.

The rumors were completely off when they said that Porsha Williams’ spin-off was going to cover her activism. 

But the rumors doesn’t seem to be wrong about Kandi & the Gang. 

It looks like it’s going to be more like Vanderpump Rules than RHOA.

And it looks like it’s going to everything that Vanderpump Rules hasn’t been for a couple of seasons now: Messy!

Even Vanderpump Rules has been struggling for some seasons now, some Real Housewives shows are also having poor ratings.

I’ve enjoyed Winter House and Summer House way more than Vanderpump Rules. 

And I hope that Kandi & the Gang will be fun as well.

It’s a little difficult to react properly to trailers of brand new shows.

We automatically compare it to Vanderpump Rules and that makes our expectations become a type of way.

We also see a bunch of new faces that I know nothing about. I don’t understand what’s going on, who they are or what this season will look like.

But it looks like this can be fun.                                              

We’ve seen Kandi Burruss at her restaurants in several seasons now and I’m a little excited about getting a deeper look into the dysfunctional restaurant.

People are sleeping around, and people are feuding… 

There seems to be fair share of drama on the show as well, and a hot mic moment too.

I’ve read the bios of the cast members, and it seems like some of the staff is originally from Kandi’s other restaurant Blaze, that has been struggling.

However, they’ve switched restaurant in an attempt to turn things around? 

So, I guess they will be addressing the difficulties they’ve experienced.

Staff members, family members and a manager sleeping with a bartender.

The staff is young, beautiful and messy. It feels like this can be a breath of fresh air. And that’s what Bravo needs right now.

The show premieres on March the 6th and I’ll give it a shot. I’m a little excited.

No Reunion for Kandi and the Gang?

I really wanted a reunion for this show. 

It would’ve been interesting seeing them all together after all the jokes and shades in their confessionals.

But Kandi Burruss has her own YouTube channel “Speak on It” where she has invited the cast to talk about the episodes.

DonJuan Clark said that there’s multiple people who doesn’t like each other now because of what was said on the show.

And that’s why we need a reunion!

Are these interviews on Speak on It enough or will she have a reunion special about the show?

But since there’s no reunion, I’ll make a little post about my thoughts on the show. 

I feel bad about being mean to Patrick Dallas. I was worried about him though, because he was whipped by Safari Foxe.

Torin Mitchell made a joke in his confessional about Safari being the (puppet) master when Patrick told him that he wanted to propose.

Everybody was sceptical of Safari, but she has not exactly been nice to the staff at OLG. 

She’s not interested in having a relationship with them.

Safari became the low-key villain with her toxicity and strange insecurity.

It’s weird that she’s in the front of the cast photo, while Patrick and Brian Redmond are at the back of the cast photo.

Brian should’ve been in the front! He was the star of the show!

And I really enjoyed DonJuan on this show too.

I’ve already said on this blog that I didn’t like him on RHOA, and I think it was because I was buying Porsha Williams’ bullshit.

She had a vendetta against Kandi’s clique. 

I think I would see the situations differently if I’m rewatching RHOA now that Porsha has fallen from grace.

One of the shadiest things this season was the relationship between the manager Brandon Black and the bartender Dom’Unique Variety.

I didn’t think that they were going to make it as a couple, but they’re apparently still together.

But 6 months later they still haven’t decided about how they should fix the situation. 

So, it’s still possible for this to turn messy.

Engaged at That 70s Show

It’s the time for Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker to cut someone from their gang, and they were looking at Dom’Unique Variety and Rashard Roles.

Rashard hasn’t really been fully present this season, and I wish we could’ve seen more of the examples they mentioned as reasons for firing him.

He was apparently drinking a lot… Both on and off the job. We haven’t seen him enough to learn his behavior to see if he was intoxicated or not.

The worst part about it is that he lives with Brian Redmond! Brian struggles with alcohol and drug abuse, and he still drinks wine.

DonJuan Clark voiced his concern for Brian about this. It sounds a lot like denial, and he should stay away from alcohol, period.

Brian has everything to win! He’s the star of the show.

He was the host at Torin Michell’s Friday Night Vibe event. And Todd wants to invest in his Soul Food business and become a partner.

As Kandi told him, he can’t be slacking off anymore. 

And I don’t think he can be around people like Rashard who drink so much that he can’t come in for work.

I thought Rashard was one of the sensible employers, but this behavior is unprofessional.

It was a weird setting for firing Rashard though.

Everybody was dressed in their 70s outfits. DonJuan was shaking his head so much his afro was swinging on top of his head.

They brought Shawndreca Robinson into the conversation as they had promoted her to the maître d’ of OLG. It was a little messy.

Maybe that’s the reason why it didn’t seem like he understood a thing.

But Patrick Dallas also decided to propose to Safari Foxe at this party.

It was a Scheana Marie and Brock Davies move to film a proposal before the season finale.

Torin asked in his confessional if this was Patrick’s idea or if it came from the puppet master. He’s not wrong for questioning this though.

But Patrick told him that he was ready to die with Safari, so Safari is going to be family for real now.

These are Kwasi, Kwasi, Kwasi Nights

Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker was looking for more bartenders as Dom’Unique Variety is going away on a tour soon.

But they’re also looking for promoting the ones they’ve already got. And Phillip Fremgong wanted them to promote Shawndreca Robinson!

This is night and day from the premiere episode! They’ve come a long way this season.

Phillip helped his brother’s girlfriend with getting a job interview for the bartender job, but she showed up drunk!

DonJuan Clark asked some shady questions, like how she would handle intoxicated people. 

The weirdest part was that the girl thought she did good!

Another comic situation in this episode was Patrick Dallas’ photoshoot for his luxury oils brand.

He’s launching his luxury oils with the unfortunate name “Peau Confiante”.

Everybody tells him that the name sounds like shit, but he refuses to change the name. 

There’s something about Patrick that feels… slow.

Maybe it’s the way he’s searching for his words in the confessionals and the way he’s so whipped by Safari Foxe. 

Every time it’s Safari this and Safari that.

However, he brings a lot of comedy with his awkwardness.

Torin Mitchell called the name ugly. Kandi couldn’t support the name. Dom’Unique said that it sounded like he was selling shit.

But they all came to support his photoshoot for the oils. And there’s so many characters on this show that just makes me laugh so much.

Patrick wanted DonJuan to pose bare-chested, to which DonJuan said that “nobody wants to see me promoting Poo Confiante, get the fuck out of here”.

DonJuan cracks me up so much!

But while Torin did some research for the photoshoot, they stumbled upon Phillip’s past as a model. He called himself Kwasi at that time.

I’m relieved that Phillip has finally found his place with the employees at the OLG. 

Especially with Brian Redmond, because that didn’t start off great at all.

Now, Brian printed t-shirts with the picture of Kwasi on and showed up to the photoshoot with Shawndreca wearing the shirt.

Thankfully, Phillip laughed of their little stunt, but I was worried for a second there.

Burying the Wig, But Not the Hatchet

Am I crazy for agreeing with Shawndreca Robinson’s boyfriend? 

Her friends acted like no friends at that “house standing”. Her friends should’ve left with her.

It’s strange that Dom’Unique Variety was deflecting so intensely over something she was clearly wrong about. 

I guess she and Shawndreca both have that in common.

The mess that went down in Brian Redmond’s apartment in this episode. She tried so hard to intimidate Rashard Roles, but she was wrong.

But this isn’t the only thing Dom’Unique’s being a bad girl for. Her relationship with Brandon Black is shady.

When DonJuan Clark and Phillip Frempong confronted her about their relationship, she told them Brandon was her boyfriend.

DonJuan was like: “This is great. Now I need to know which one of you that needs to go.”

He is one of my favorites on this show, which actually surprised me, as I couldn’t stand his messiness on RHOA.

Speaking of favorites though, Brian is the star of the show.

That funeral for Brian’s wig cracked me up! It’s probably one scene I’m going to rewatch time and time again.

The theatrics of it all! And the black widow outfit! He knows the assignment!

As a matter of fact, a lot of this cast knows the assignment. But the jury’s still out on Safari Foxe.

She claimed that she’s not a child, but she acts like one.

She’s a big advocate for positivity, but she’s the most toxic person on the show!

It cracked me up when Patrick Dallas talked to Todd Tucker about proposing to Safari and he went on about “twin souls”.

Todd and Kandi Burruss invited Patrick and Safari, Shawndreca and her boyfriend to a triple date in an attempt to deescalate the hostility.

When they were talking how they met each other, Safari admitted that she thought he was “a trick”. A prostitute.

It’s incredibly strange that she would say something as negative and rude as that in front of Patrick’s family.

I’m almost scared of how the Old Lady Gang will react to Safari’s comment though. 

Because Mama Joyce can hold a grudge!

The Unwelcoming Housewarming

Now that Kandi Burruss said Patrick Dallas should have the housewarming party, it’s happening. 

Once Kandi met up with Safari Foxe too, there’s a whole new tune.

And why would you invite people to a housewarming party when you’ve got no furniture? As Brian Redmond said:

“The house should be ready to be warmed. This is a house standing.”

And Safari was supposed to be responsible for decorating the apartment. That’s embarrassing.

Kandi and Todd Tucker don’t seem excited about the relationship. They joked about how she doesn’t talk, doesn’t smile or laugh.

When Shawndreca Robinson and her boyfriend showed up Safari just automatically said that “they can stay outside”.

I mean, the way the others tried to justify Shawndreca showing up was a little weak, but apparently, Patrick had never told her that she wasn’t invited. Cringe!

And apparently Shawndreca and her boyfriend June waited outside for 30 minutes before Patrick and Safari came out to tell them to leave! 30 minutes!

When Patrick explained why they weren’t invited, Rashard Roles had implied that Dom’Unique Variety and Brandon Black should go to them.

Exactly! I wouldn’t leave my best friend out on the street for 30 minutes if she wasn’t wanted at the party. 

It would’ve been better if they left too.

Because Brandon was flaunting his relationship with Dom’Unique in front of Kandi, Todd, DonJuan Clark and the Old Lady Gang!

Is he stupid? Did he not understand the meeting with DonJuan and Phillip Frempong? How can you possibly misunderstand that message?!

Brandon isn’t the only one that seems a little naïve though. Patrick seems a little bit like he’s airheaded.

When Brandon was talking with him about his relationship with Dom’Unique, Patrick used Kandi and Todd as an example. 

That irritates the hell out of me.

Yes, Kandi and Todd met when he was a producer on RHOA, but he had to quit that job to be together with Kandi.

Why would they use that relationship as an example for no conflict of interest? 

Brandon isn’t exactly willing to quit his job for Dom’Unique, so… It’s not the same.

Some Like it Hot in the Kitchen

The cat’s out of the bag. 

Not only was Shawndreca Robinson busted by the camera with audio from the office, but so was Dom’Unique Variety and Brandon Black.

I’m not going to lie, it was so funny seeing Shawndreca running around trying to pin the blame on somebody else when she was her own snitch.

And DonJuan Clark is just so entertaining to me. 

Once he learned about Shawndreca’s search for a scapegoat, he put an end to that quick.

How embarrassing. But it was such a cringing and funny scene.

Another thing that entertains me about DonJuan is how he’s constantly walking around the OLG restaurant and taking out fires.

He knows about Brian Redmond’s issues with alcohol and drugs and sadly learned that he was still drinking wine.

He’s understandably concerned for Brian and confronted him about his worries.

Brian told him that rehab didn’t work for him, and that he still drink wine and not “the hard stuff”. 

That sounds dangerously close to denial to me.

Brian is one of my favorites on the show and the star of the show, I wish him nothing but success and happiness.

But DonJuan has other fires to put out as well. The situation with Brandon was just another one.

It amazes me how Brandon’s even a manager, to be honest. There’s something shady about him.

The only reason he started working at the OLG was to get close to Dom’Unique, but him pursuing a relationship with her is so unprofessional.

DonJuan, Phillip Frempong, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have a right to be concerned about the situation.

When DonJuan and Phillip confronted Brandon about it, he didn’t see the severity of the situation.

He saw it as a solution to move Dom’Unique to different restaurant, and the look on DonJuan and Phillip’s faces said it all.

He showed up unannounced to Dom’Unique’s dance rehearsal to inform her that they were busted.

After telling her a different version of the severity of their inappropriate relationship, they decide to continue with their relationship, which was not one of the available solutions.
