(Gifted) BOOK REVIEW: A Throne of Swans by @katharinecorrwrites and @lizcorrwrites . Today is my stop on the bookstagram tour for #AThroneOfSwans, the first book in a new YA fantasy duology! . Synopsis: When her father dies just before her birthday, seventeen-year-old Aderyn inherits the role of Protector of Atratys, a dominion in a kingdom where nobles are able to transform at will into the bird that represents their family bloodline. Aderyn's ancestral bird is a swan. But she has not transformed for years, not since witnessing the death of her mother. Driven by revenge and love, she must venture into the malevolent heart of the Citadel to seek the truth about the attack that so nearly destroyed her. . When I first started reading A Throne of Swans, I was expecting Aderyn having to delve into the underground world of the capital, but that is not how the story goes at all! It’s actually about court intrigues, and it keeps you wondering all the way through who you can trust. So, I won’t comment too much on the plot and the characters, because I don’t want to spoil anything! The only thing I’ll say is that it’s a retelling of the Swan Lake, but it’s been twisted and turned so well that you can’t guess how the story will go. It did take the first few chapters to get into the story, but once Aderyn arrives at Court the story really kicks off. I think I read it in about two days, and stayed up until 3am to finish it! Also, my advice would be to skip the map and the family tree at the beginning when you start reading, because it holds a lot of information and names, and you might be a little overwhelmed. I found it much more useful to gloss over them and use them as a reference if I needed it. .
