She screamed out their names
“Pay attention to me, please!”
They did not respond
The girl sat at her desk, staring at her paper
And while she was all there
She wasn’t all there
Endnotes
Two years ago I wrote a really depressing post about how much I hated my life and school etc., but I’m so relieved and lucky that I feel totally different now. Can’t tell if it’s because of uni (which I don’t even enjoy that much) and the change in environment, or if it’s because I’ve started giving less fucks about everything.
That’s not to say I’m completely happy with everything - far from it actually. I have no idea what I want to do anymore career-wise, and with the degree I’m working towards. My grades aren’t good enough. I get a sinking feeling everytime my friends talk about their jobs/driving/relationships because I have accomplished none of that and feel like I should’ve by now.
Yet, despite all my anxieties and insecurities, I feel oddly okay. I’m grateful for the new experiences and discoveries I’ve made this year.
I mainly just wanted to express how grateful and lucky I am to have discovered Hozier and his music this year. It’s hard to articulate how deeply I’ve fallen in love in the span of 9 months - and actually getting the chance to meet him and thank him for everything kinda made every shitty moment pre-2015 worth it in a way.
At the risk of sounding of more cliched, I’m just going to end the post here. Hello if you’ve made it this far.
She's (not) the Worst
Merry Christmas to @dontforgetcat1 from your Gravity Falls Secret Santa! Here’s your present a fic of Dipper and Pacifica socializing/flirting of the NorthWest Manor episode! I hope you like it! It’s not the best but I certainly tried my best!
Dipper was talking to Mabel when he felt a tap on his shoulder. When he turned around he saw Pacifica.
“Hey Dipper? Can we talk in private I wanted to tell you something.”
In surprise it took him a moment to answer, “ Sure. Just give me a moment.”
Pacifica nodded and took a small step back as Dipper quickly said goodbye to his twin. When he was done she lead him out to the garden behind the mansion.
When they neared a fountain she stopped and nervously said, “I just wanted to thank you, for saving me and my family.”
In his shock Dipper took a moment to respond, “Oh uh… It was no problem, I mean it’s kinda what I do, you know? Saving the day and what not.” He laughed nervously.
Pacifica smiled bitterly and turned to face the fountain, “Yea, I guess it is. I just never expected you to save the day for me and my family, considering how I’ve acted towards you and Mabel before.”
Dipper cleared his throat to stall for time. He could not deny the truth of that statement, Pacifica had been rude and unkind towards him and Mabel on several different occasions.
“I… I mean you have been pretty rude to us before, but that’s in the past. You stood up against your parents today and from what I know about you, which admittedly is not a lot, that was a big deal. I mean earlier you were freaking out about getting mud on your parents favorite rug and look what you did, like, 10 minutes ago! You let in a stampede of people coved in mud into your house. That’s a big deal.”
Pacifica rubbed her arm in embarrassment. “You really think so?”
Dipper nodded, “Yea, and you were amazing out there. The way you kept your cool and opened the gates when you were under a ton of pressure. That was really amazing!”
Dipper flushed when he realized how passionate he sounded. He started stuttering in embarrassment, “ I-I mean… W-what I m-meant to s-say was…”
He flushed even more when Pacifica started laughing. “Thanks Dipper, no ones ever told me I was amazing before.”
“It’s no big deal,” He mumbled still embarrassed. He couldn’t believe this was happening. Here he was telling Pacifica Northwest, the girl who had taunted, mocked and lied to him and Mabel on several different occasions that she was amazing.
Pacifica sat down on the edge of the fountain and brought her knees to her chest. She looked away from him and quietly said, “But it is a big deal. My parents never really take time to get to know me because they’re always busy with work. All my friends are friends with me because I’m rich. And everyone else thinks I’m snobby and stuck up. No ones ever praised me for anything.”
Dipper couldn’t believe his ears, he may not have had a lot of friends but he had never been lonely, always having Mabel by his side. Yet here was Pacifica telling him that she never had anyone to rely on. No wonder she was so cold towards others. She never had anyone act any different towards her.
He rubbed his arm and sat down next to her. “Well if it makes you feel better you could always come hang out with me and Mabel. I know for a fact that even after everything Mabel’s still been dying to be friends with you.”
Pacifica turned around. “Really? After everything? No ones that forgiving.”, she said seriously.
Dipper laughed lightly, “Trust me, Mabel definitely is that forgiving. She’d forgive forgive a dragon for destroying a village if it apologized enough.”
Pacifica looked him straight in the eyes and asked, “What about you, do you forgive me?”
Dipper gulped, and asked his self. Could he forgive Pacifica after all she’d done to him.
He finally decided yes, yes he could. For all her faults Pacifica had a rough childhood. Never having anyone to rely on would be hard. He couldn’t imagine not having Mabel by his side.
“Yea I think I can.”, he replied.
Pacifica smiled. Suddenly Dipper realized how close they were. He gulped again as Pacifica moved closer, her eyes closed. He debated letting it happen. Finally he moved closer closing his eyes as well. They moved closer and closer until…
“Hey guys whatcha doing?”
A very familiar voice pulled them apart. “M-Mabel!” Dipper jerked back nearly falling off the end of the fountain.
Pacifica moved back as well her face red.
Mabel raised an eyebrow and asked, “Sooooo… Did I interrupt something? Because I can leave if I did.” She winked at Dipper.
Pacifica turned redder as Dipper started stuttering.
Mabel grinned and said, “Nah just kidding! We gotta go Dip'n'dots, Grunkle Stan wants us home.”
Dipper cleared his throat and stood up, “Alright…”, he said shakily. “Bye Pacifica I’ll see you around. Remember what I told you.”
Pacifica nodded as Dipper and Mabel walked away.
As soon as they were out of earshot Mabel started bombarding him with questions about what had happened and what she had interrupted. He didn’t say a word still thinking about what had happened. Or almost happened to be exact.
Thinking back on it all he had a thought. Maybe she wasn’t the worst.
things I cannot do, apparently:
write a fic without having to use a language I do not actually speak
write a fic for any work that heavily uses the one language other than English that I do speak proficiently
do you ever realize “oh, this would make a good ship” right in the middle of writing something completely platonic
