The Journey- an undertale story (part 9)
Katie stood there, the snow chilling her feet through her shoes. She searched through her backpack quickly to see if there was anything in there she could use to keep warm. She found a red snow cap, and put it over her short brown hair. As she stared at the trees in front of her, a couple tears fell down her face. “you ok partner?” Chara asked. “Fine... I just wished I could have stayed with Toriel longer.” Katie replied, wiping the tears away. “Lets just get going.” Katie said before Chara could say anything. They walked together through the narrow path. Katie almost tripped as she stumbled on a giant branch. A small twig was sticking out of it. Katie managed to rip it off. “Sweet! Now I have something to protect me with.” She said while waving it like a sword. “Calm yourself. Lets hope you dont have to use it.” Chara mumbled. They continued walking. Suddenly, a small snapping noise broke the silence. Katie whipped around and pulled out her stick, but saw no one there. But.. the large branch was snapped in half as if it was nothing. “What the...” Katie mumbled as she turned around and kept walking, quickening her pace. She heard footsteps behind her, and started running. “Odd! I dont see anyone!” Chara said as they caught up with Katie. Suddenly, she stopped at a bridge with a fence blocking it. “H u m a n.” A low eerie voice said behind Katie. She froze, unable to move. “Don’t you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand.” Forcing herself to move, Katie turned around and shook the hand the stranger had out for her. Suddenly, a large farting noise filled the room. Katie looked at the man’s hand to see it was a small whoopee cushion. She started bursting into laughter. “heh. I’ve never seen anyone laugh that hard at a prank before!” The man said as Katie stopped laughing. Now that she could get a good look at him, she saw he was a short skeleton, with a old blue jacket and black basket ball pants, as well as pink slippers. “the name’s sans. sans the skeleton. you are?” Sans asked. “I’m Katie! Katie the... human?” She responded awkwardly. “speaking of humans, i’m actually supposed to be on patrol for some right now..” Katie gulped, expecting the skeleton to start attacking. “but i don’t care about capturing anyone.” Katie let out a sigh of relief. Chara just smiled. “but, my brother papyrus does. he’s a human hunting fanatic.” Katie frowned. Just as she thought she was safe here. “hey! I think that’s him over there. follow me through this gate thingy.” Katie watched as sans went across, but stayed frozen in place, nervous to go ahead. Sans turned around. “just go right through! my bro made the bars to wide to stop anyone.” Katie shakily took a step forwards, then started following Sans. In front of them was small clearing, with a wooden sentry post, as well as a beat up lamp. “quick. behind that conveintly shaped lamp.” Katie just nodded, and ran behind it. She realized it perfectly covered her up. “I’ll sit up here.” Chara said as they sat on top of the lampshade. Katie peaked from behind the lamp. A tall skeleton in a white suite, as well as red boots, gloves, and a scarf walked up. Katie guessed this was Sans’s brother. “SANS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!” Papyrus shouted. “i’m on patrol.” Sans responded cooly. “WAIT?! REALLY?! BUT YOUR NEVER ON PATROL! IS SOMETHING WRONG? ARE YOU SICK OR SOMETHING BROTHER?!” Papyrus asked worriedly. “chill paps. i’m fine. just felt like patrolling today.” “WOWY BROTHER! DOES THIS MEAN YOU’LL STOP BEING LAZY AND GET SOME WORK DONE?” Papyrus asked eagerly. “work? oh yeah. i’ve been getting a skele-ton of work done recently.” Sans gave a wink and Katie held in giggling. She enjoyed a good pun. Her sister on the surface hated them though. “UGH! YOU AND YOUR PUNS! WHATEVER... HAVE YOU SEEN A HUMAN?” Papyrus asked, clearly annoyed. “nope. just been starring at this lamp.” Sans took a look at the lamp, and gave a wink towards Katie. “UGH! LAZY BONES! WHAT IF A HUMAN COMES BY!? I HAVE TO BE READY! I MUST BE READY! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL CAPTURE A HUMAN! THEN I WILL GET EVERYTHING I DESERVE! RESPECT! RECANITON, GLORY! PEOPLE, WILL ASK, TO BE, MY FRIEND??” Katie felt pity in her heart for the skeleton. She knew what it was like to have no friends. “I can be your friend!” Katie said, then covered her mouth, realizing what she had done. “WHO’S THERE?!” Papyrus asked, looking at the lamp. “way to go kiddo.” Sans said while rolling his eyes, which Katie found impossible for a normal skeleton to do. Katie stepped out of behind the lamp, shaking slightly. “OH WOWY! A HUMAN! SANS, IT’S A HUMAN!... that is a human, right?” Papyrus asked, clearly very happy. Chara just gave a sigh of annoyance. “Your dead partner.” They mumbled. “I honestly don’t care anymore.” Katie said while smiling. “HUMAN! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL HAVE TO CAPTURE YOU! LETS BEGIN!” Suddenly, the room turned black and white. Sans stood in the background, a worried expression on his face. “Papyrus challenges you.” Chara mumbled.
The Journey- an undertale story (part 8)
Katie followed Chara as they walked downstairs. She regretted ever asking Toriel if she could go home, even if she knew that she couldn’t stay forever. Eventually, they caught up with her. “Toriel?” Katie asked. “My child.. ahead of us is the exit to the ruins. I am going to destroy it. That way no one can leave again.” Toriel kept walking, leaving Katie standing there shocked. “But Mom! You can’t! How can I go home then?!” Katie called after the goat monster. She eventually caught up again. “You want to return “Home” Do you not?” Toriel asked, without looking at her. Katie looked towards Chara, but the ghost only shrugged their shoulders. “Hmf.” Toriel said when Katie did not answer. “You are just like the others.” Katie was confused for a bit, before she remembered what Chara said about six other humans falling down. Toriel continued walking, and the two humans followed behind. “I have seen it again and again.” Toriel whispered sadly, making Katie’s heart ache. “They come... They leave... They die.” A shiver went up Katie’s spine at those words. “You naive child... if you leave the ruins.. They.. Asgore.. Will kill you.” Katie tilted her head to the side in bafflement. Who was Asgore? She looked to Chara and only saw a sad look in their eyes. “Chara, who’s Asgore?” Katie whispered under her breath. “He’s... My dad.” Chara responded, their voice cracking. “Oh.” Katie responded, seeing Chara clearly didn’t want to talk about her father. They both continued on. “This is your final chance, my child. Please, go upstairs.” Feeling as determined as ever, Katie continued, ignoring the sinking feeling inside her. The three kept walking until they reached a large purple door, in a small room. Toriel turned around and stared Katie in the eyes, a sad motherly look in her’s. “Fine then. Prove yourself.” “What do you-” Katie began, but was cut off by Toriel. “Prove to me you can survive!” Suddenly, the room faded to black and white. A small, red heart appeared in front of Katie. “Toriel blocks the way.” Chara mumbled. “Toriel lets talk about this!” Katie begged. Toriel only shook her head, tears falling from the elderly monster’s eyes. Fire balls flooded the room, as Katie tried to dodge them. “Look out!” Chara yelled as they shoved Katie aside. She looked up to see a Fire Ball almost hit her head. “Thanks.” She whispered, slowly standing back up. “Mom Please! I don’t want to fight you!” Katie yelled through the sound of the fire engulfing the room. “....” Toriel made no sound as more Fire balls came. This time, Katie was hit. “Oof..” She said as she was knocked aside, her shoulder burning. “Mom please...” Katie said again. “....?” Toriel looked a little confused now. More fire balls came, and Katie was slowly reduced to 2 HP. “I really don’t wanna die!” She thought shakily. “Toriel we don’t have to fight!” Katie shouted, her lungs aching from the smoke of the fire. “What are you doing..?” Toriel asked. Fire came, and Katie braced herself. But she looked up to see none were hitting her. Was Toriel avoiding her on purpose? “Mom please! We don’t have to fight like this!” “Stop it. Stop it now!” Toriel responded. The fire still didn’t hit her. Suddenly, the fire stopped. Everything was still. “I know you wish to go home but... You can be happy here. If you would just go upstairs.. We can have a good life down here!” Katie just shook her head No. But her heart was telling her to do what Toriel said and stay. Suddenly, a sad smile came across Toriel’s face. “Pathetic, is it not? I can not save even a single child..” Katie shook her head again. “Toriel you did save me! I would be dead by now if it wasn’t for you.” This made Toriel look up, tears still in her eyes, but hope now as well. Suddenly, color flooded back to the room. “My child... If you really wish to leave.. I will not stop you.” Katie gave a sigh of relief. The battle was over. “My only request is that you won’t come back. Please forgive me.” Tears came from Katie’s eyes as she ran over to her goat mother, and gave her a huge hug. “I’ll miss you. I wish I could stay, honestly...” Katie whispered. “I know my child. I know.” Toriel responded as she hugged back. Suddenly, the monster let go. “I will be off now. Good luck Katie.” She began walking away. Katie and Chara watched. Suddenly, Toriel turned her head back towards her, and opened her mouth as if to say something. She must have thought against it, because she closed her mouth and continued on.” Katie wiped her tears away. “Chara... Could I hold your hand?” She asked shyly. “Wait what?! Why?” Chara asked. “I’m so used to holding Toriel’s hand when i’m scared... Just until we get to wherever outside this door is?” Chara gave a long sigh and reluctantly grabbed Katie’s hand. “You big cry baby. Let’s go.” The two began walking outside the door. Katie stopped dead at a smiling face in a patch of grass. “Clever... Very clever.” Flowey said, an evil smirk on his small face. “What do you want jerk?!” Katie responded, remembering the way Flowey had treated her after she had thought they were friends. “Whoa whoa there! I thought I was your Best friend!” “Not any more.” Katie grumbled. “Well whatever!” Flowey replied calmly. “You think your so clever? Able to play by your own rules? In this world, it’s kill or be killed! You must be so proud of yourself. You spared a single monster.” Katie smiled a little, knowing she had spared more than Toriel in the ruins. She thought back to all the froggits, migosps, and even Napstablook. “But you really think you have more power than me? I am the prince of this world’s future!” Flowey gave a very evil smile, and stared Katie right in the eyes. “Don’t worry my little monarch. My plan isn’t regicide. This is far more interesting!” Suddenly, Flowey gave the most evil laugh Katie had ever heard before popping back into the ground. The two humans stared at where Flowey had been before Katie broke the silence. “Chara what does Regicide mean?” “Seriously?!” Chara replied. “That, out of all things, is what you have to say!?” “Well I don’t know most big words!” Katie responded, annoyed. “Fine fine, whatever. It means the act of killing a king.” Katie nodded, confused on why Flowey said that wasn’t his plan. And who was the king? The two continued walking, until they reached another door. Katie eagerly shoved it open, to be faced with snow and and trees outside.
The Journey- an undertale story (part 7)
The ruins were filled with so many more puzzles and monsters. Katie had encountered Moldsmalls, Migosps, Vegitoids, Whimsuns, and more Froggits. Even after their attacks she had managed to befriend them. Eventually she made her way to a small hallway. Instead of going left towards the path of leafs, Katie kept going straight. She found a small room at the end of the corridor with two spider webs, a sign, and another star. Katie tapped the star lightly.
“The feelings of adventure tingles through you, filling you with determination. HP Fully restored! Game Saved!”
Katie smiled as the voice talked, then walked towards the sign, which read “Spider Bake Sale! All proceeds go to real spiders!” Interested, Katie approached the spiderwebs. Through her travels in the ruins, she had collected gold as well. She placed a handful of about 7 G into the spider web. Two spiders eagerly crawled down and collected the gold, then left a donut in the web. Katie picked it up and eagerly saved it for later. She had found out that the food down here healed, which she discovered in an encounter with an angry Froggit. She went back and up the leafy path to find a giant black tree with no leafs. She was guessing the red leafs on the ground must have belonged to the tree. Suddenly, she saw Toriel walked around the tree, mumbling to herself. “Oh, I hope she is ok...” Toriel took out her phone and began to dial a number, when she saw Katie watching from the entrance. “Oh my child! How did you get here?” Toriel asked while running up to Katie. Katie smiled and hugged her goat mom. “I know you said to stay behind..” She mumbled. “Oh child it’s quite alright.” Toriel replied. “I’m just happy to see you are in good health. Now come along! I have a surprise for you!” Katie once again grabbed Toriel’s paw as she led her to the small house. Before they could enter, Katie quickly broke free to touch the star in front of it.
“Knowing there is someone out there who cares for you, fills you with comfort and determination. HP Fully restored, and Game saved.” Katie nodded. “My child, what are you doing?” Toriel asked. “Oh! I was just looking at the star.” Katie explained. Toriel looked confused. “What star my child?” “Oh, you don’t see it?” Katie asked, pointing to the glowing star. “We should hurry to the surprise.” Toriel whispered. Katie guessed she couldn’t see it and followed Toriel without question inside.
Inside what Katie guessed was Toriel’s home, she sniffed the air. It was filled with a pastry scent, as well as butterscotch and cinnamon. “Surprise!” Toriel said excitedly. “I made you a butterscotch cinnamon pie!” Katie smiled. Never in her life had she had pie. Or anything butterscotch or cinnamon for that matter! Normally Katie was very picky and hated trying new foods, but she wanted that to change with Toriel. “I want you to have a good time living here, so I will hold off on snail pie for tonight.” Katie just nodded with a fake smile at that news. Snail pie didn’t sound that tasty... But if Toriel liked it Katie guessed she could learn to as well. “Come! I have another surprise!” Toriel motioned for Katie to follow her. Another surprise? Could today get any better! She followed Toriel into a hall way. They both stopped at a white door. “It is a room of your own.” Toriel explained.” “Mom..” Katie whispered in disbelief.” “I really don’t deserve this..” Toriel only smiled. “Well I think you do, my child.” Suddenly, the smell of smoke caught Katie and Toriel’s noses. “Is something burning? Umm.. Make yourself at home!” Toriel said frantically as she rushed to what Katie guessed was the Kitchen. Katie opened the door. Inside was a small red bedroom, with a closet, a lamp, dusty picture frames, drawings, a toy chest, and a bed with red bed sheets. Katie liked the cozy feeling to the room. She suddenly realized how tired she was from exploring. Without thinking, she hopped into the bed as if she had always lived here, and fell asleep.
* * * * * * * *
Katie suddenly sleepily lifted her eye lids. The room’s lamp was turned off, and everything was dark. “Finally your awake.” Katie jumped at the voice next to her. Beside her was a pale human with a green and tan striped shirt. “W-Who are you?” Katie stuttered. “Relax! The name’s Chara.” The human replied. “How did you get here..” Katie asked sleepily. “Well, do you want a simple answer, or a long one?” Chara asked, sitting calmly on the side of the bed. “Short please.” Katie responded. “Alrighty then. I’m a ghost. I’ve been following you because my soul is somehow attached to your’s. I’m the voice who whispers stuff to you. And your in my room.” Kati`e nodded. “That’s.. a lot to take in. I wont asked how you died, or how our souls are connected, but I will say sorry for taking over like this. Toriel said it was my room so I thought..” “Nah, it’s fine.” Chara replied. “I don’t need it much anyway anymore. Just happy your taking good care of mom.” “so.. Other humans fell down to?” Katie asked. “Yeah.. 6 more if you don’t count me. They all took my room, but your the first that could see me.” Katie thought for a moment. “Probably because of that souls being connected thing.” She said at last. Chara nodded. “Bottom line is I wanna help you on your journey. And consider yourself lucky because I hate all humans.” “But why help me?” Katie asked. “Well, you seem nice I guess.. Besides! I got nothing better to do.” Katie laughed at this. Feeling awake she got out of bed. She noticed on the floor there was a slice of Butterscotch Cinnamon pie on a small white plate. “Aww, Mom made you pie!” Chara said wistfully. “Do you want some?” Katie offered, grabbing the pie off the floor and holding it out to her new friend. “I’m good, thanks. Can’t eat anyway cus i’m a ghost. By the way, I would save that.” “Aww... But i’m really hungry! I’ve only had a piece of candy all day!” Chara smiled. “Just trust me partner.” “Alright alright..” Katie said, showing a small smile as she grabbed a backpack that was lying in the corner. She carefully put the pie inside. “By the way, if Toriel lets me call her mom, and she is your mom.. Does that make us siblings?” Chara thought for a moment. “I guess it does.” They concluded. “Lets go outside of here.” Katie said while opening the door. Katie and Chara walked together out into the main room. Katie ignored the stairs near the back for now and walked to the next room. Inside, was a small fireplace. Next to the fireplace was a brown cozy reading chair. Toriel was sitting on it, reading a book. Near Toriel was a long table with three chairs, and golden flowers in the center. Chills went up Katie’s back as she remembered Flowey. Katie walked up to Toriel. “Hi mom!” Toriel looked up from her book. “ “Hello my child! Did you sleep well?” Katie nodded. “Great to hear! I.. I wanted you to know how happy I am to have someone living here. I’ve been alone for so long..” Katie put her hand on Toriel’s shoulder, and the old monster smiled. “I have also prepared stuff for your education. Also, if their is anything you need, let me know.” Katie nodded. “You know you cant stay here forever, right?” Chara told her. Katire froze a bit. “Your right...” She whispered, thinking of her Mom and Dad and Sister on the surface.” “Hey Toriel.. When Can I go home?” The question pained Katie to ask it, but she couldn’t stay here forever. No matter how much she wanted to. Best to leave quickly before she got attached. “My child.. this is your home now!” Toriel explained. Katie sighed. This would not be easy. “Toriel how do I exit the ruins?” She asked, more firmly this time. Toriel put down her book, a sad look in her eyes. “I will be right back, my child.” She then got up and walked off. “Should we follow her?” Chara asked, floating beside Katie. Katie hated to be alone, and even though she now had Chara, she still wanted Toriel by her side. “Lets follow her.” Katie agreed, and the two walked downstairs.
The Journey- an undertale story (part 6)
After touching the star, Katie continued through the hallway. She felt a chill go through her spine as she felt like someone was floating next to her. She shook off the feeling as she continued. In the next room, two pillars lay about 5 feet apart. In the center was a pile of leafs, and on those leafs, was a ghost which appeared to be sleeping. “Zzzzzz.... Zzzzz...” The ghost whispered. “Is she gone yet?” The ghost whispered. It seemed as if he was pretending to be asleep. “Mr. Ghost? Could you please move so I can get by?” Katie asked, not wanting to step on him to get across. The ghost didn’t seem to hear her. “Mr. Ghost?” Katie asked again, a bit louder. Still no response. “Mr. Ghost-” Katie shouted a bit, but was interrupted by the room switching to black and white. She stared at the ghost to realize it had gotten up, and was staring at her with a sad expression. “Here comes Napstablook.” The familiar voice whispered. Suddenly, tears flew from Napstablook’s eyes. One hit Katie’ foot, and she flinched back as some damage was taken from her HP. She quickly selected the ACT button. Four options were displayed.
*CHECK *FLIRT *INSULT *CHEER
Checking didn’t seem useful, and Katie didn’t want to flirt or insult the sad ghost, so she selected cheer and gave Napstablook a small smile. “Heh..” He said, half happily as more tears came down. This time Katie dodged them. She gave another smile. “Heh heh...” Napstablook mumbled, sounding more happy than before. More tears came, and Katie dodged them. She felt bad for the ghost, and wished to comfort him, but she knew she also needed to get to Toriel. “Cheering seems to have improve Napstablook’s mood.” The voice mumbled. Katie gave a third smile to the ghost. “Wanna see something cool?” He asked in a dreary half happy voice. Katie nodded eagerly. Suddenly, Napstablook began crying. But instead of down, his tears flew upwards above his head, all coming together to make a fancy looking top hat. “Do you like it..?” Napstablook asked. “It’s a really amazing hat! I love it!” Katie cheered. “Oh geez...” Napstablook said as the room regained color. “I usually come to the ruins to be by myself... But today I met someone nice.” Katie felt a stab of pity for Napstablook. All he needed was some good friends! “Oh.. i’m in your way, aren’t I?” Katie gave an embarrassed nod. “Oh.. sorry.. I’ll move...” She watched as Napstablook vanished into thin air. She wished he could have stayed longer, but she knew she had to keep going.
The Journey- an undertale story (part 5)
Katie continued to wonder into the next room. A sign was located on the wall near her. “3 out of 4 rocks recommend you push them.” She read out loud. She turned her head to see a rock in the center of the room. In front of it was a pressure plate. Katie walked towards the rock and began pushing it forwards. Once it was on the plate, a small clicking noise was heard as the spikes blocking the exit came down. “Sweet!” Katie said happily as she continued on. The puzzles had been fun so far. The next room had a small, slim window looking thing on the wall. Katie didn’t feel like trying to squeeze through to see what was below, so she continued. The ground in front of her was filled with cracks. She carefully took a step forwards, when the ground broke underneath her. Katie landed on a pile of leafs. There was a sign on the wall, which Katie ran towards to read. “Please do not step on the leafs.” She looked down at the leafs she was standing on and hopped off. “How am I gonna do this one...” She mumbled, looking around. Katie suddenly realized the space between the leafs made a small path. “Maybe... If I can memorize it..” Katie stared at the path for a bit, before walking towards the large door to her right. As she climbed up the tight space inside the door, she found herself coming out of the window thingy. “Looks like I ended up going there anyway.” She giggled out loud. Trying her best to remember the path, Katie began walking across the cracked floors. This time, they weren’t breaking! Once she was on the other side, Katie let out a sigh of relief, surprised she was able to memorize the path. She continued walking to find three more rocks, each with pressure plates in front of them. Forgetting about the sign from earlier’s warning, she started pushing the rocks onto the plates. As Katie put her hands on the final rock, she heard an angry voice. “Whoa there partner!” The rock said, which made Katie jump in surprise. “Who said you could push ME around?” “I’m sorry Mr... Rock.. But I need you to move for me.” Katie began awkwardly. “So your ASKING me to move, huh?” The rock asked. Katie nodded shyly. “Alright, alright.” The rock said gruffly as it moved two inches forwards. “Umm.. Mr. Rock.. I need you to move some more.” Katie said quietly. “Oh fine.” The rock said, as it moved upwards. Getting annoyed, Katie just pointed to the pressure plate and tapped her foot on the ground angrily. “Alright alright, I think I got it.” The rock then slid down, then on the pressure plate. The spikes made another Click noise as they slid down. “Thank you!” Katie called as she began running towards them. She stopped though as they slid right back up. Katie turned around to see the rock had moved. She gave a sigh of angry annoyance and walked up to him. “Mr. Rock, may you please stay on the plate?” She tried to ask in the nicest tone possible. “Geez kid, your giving me a real workout!” The rock responded. “Just for you though pumpkin.” The rock then moved back onto the plate. Not waiting to see if he would move again, Katie sprinted across, and only stopped when she was safe on the other side of the spikes. She waved bye to the rock and continued on. In front of her was a long hall way. Near the right wall was a small table, with a piece of cheese so old, it looked like it was glued. Next to the table was a glowing star. On the left side was a small mouse hole. Katie eagerly ran to the star and tapped it lightly. “Wondering one day if the mouse will come out and get the cheese, fills you with determination! HP fully restored, and file saved.” The voice whispered. Katie gave a smile. Nothing could stop her now!
The Journey- an undertale story (part 4)
Katie plopped herself on the ground in front of the pillar. She suddenly wished she had brought stuff to keep her entertained when she climbed mount ebbot. Then again, Katie didn’t expect to fall in. She grabbed her phone. It was pretty old. So old, it couldn’t even text! She selected the phone section, then Toriel. She held it up to her ear as she waited. “Hello?” Toriel said from the other end. “Just wanted to say Hello.” Katie said quietly, realizing she perhaps should have thought through what she would say first. “Oh! Well in that case, Hello to you to!” The phone then hung up. About 5 minutes went by. She decided to call again, this time with a plan of what to say in mind. The phone stayed silent for a bit, but then Toriel picked up. “Hello? This is Toriel.” “Hey mom-” Katie covered her mouth in embarrassment. She didn’t mean to call Toriel that. It just sorta... Slipped out. Toriel stayed silent for a bit before replying. “Did... Did you just call me.. ‘Mom’?” “Yeah...” Katie replied, even more embarrassed then before. “Well.. I suppose... Would that make you happy? To call me.. Mother?” Katie thought for a moment. She didn’t know if calling Toriel “mom” would make her happy. “I guess so..” She mumbled quietly. “Well then.. Call me whatever you like! Now was there something you needed?” Katie let out a sigh of relief, hearing Toriel take her mistake so lightly. “Yeah, I just wanted to know a bit about you.” “You want to know more about me?” Toriel asked, a little surprised. “Well I’m afraid there isn’t much to say. I am just a silly old lady who worries to much.” “Alright, well see you later. Goat mom.” Katie and Toriel both laughed at the small joke before hanging up. “I know she said not to leave... But...” Katie mumbled to herself as she got up. She didn’t wish to break Toriel’s trust, but she wanted to explore as well. Making up her mind, Katie started walking towards the next room. Another small star was there, floating among a leaf pile. Feeling playful, Katie leaped into the air and landed on it, sending leafs everywhere. She laughed as she touched the star. “Playing in the leaf pile fills you with determination. HP fully restored. File saved.” The voice in her head whispered. Katie turned her head as she felt something hop next to her. It must have been her imagination, because nothing was there. Though some leafs were swirling in the air... katie got up and brushed the leafs out of her short dirty blond hair. She continued walking. Suddenly, her phone rang. She put it up to her ear as she answered. “Hello?” “Hello my child! This is Toriel! Sorry to bother you, but which do you prefer? Cinnamon, or Butterscotch?” Katie froze. Katie was what her parents called a”Picky eater.” How could she explain to Toriel that she didn’t like either? She then remembered how her sister would always tease her about how she never tried any new foods. She gave a deep sigh. “I like both actually!” It wouldn’t hurt to try something. “Wonderful! Thank you my child!” “No prob bob!” She said, making a reference to a show she enjoyed. She knew Toriel wouldn’t get it, but she laughed non the less before hanging up. Katie turned around suddenly and saw a door. Still wanting to explore, she ran inside to find a small room with vines and two streams near the walls. In the center was a bowl of candy with a sign that said “Please take one!” Take grabbed a candy eagerly. “But what if Toriel wants one?” She asked herself. She then grabbed another. “You take another piece of candy. How disgusting.” The voice said in a taunting tone. Katie ignored it. “What if I find a monster who wants one?” She mumbled, before grabbing a third piece. “You take another candy. You feel like the scum of the earth.” Katie ignored the voice, but it was true that she was starting to feel bad. So she left the room to continue.
