"...and then Pansy said-" Harry startled as Draco broke off with a gasp, his usually clipped tones softening instantly. "Oh hello little one."

"Draco, what?" Harry had only just gotten home from work, and had been chatting to his boyfriend as Draco walked home from the local market.

"Psp psp psp...that's it...oh hello."

Harry's heart stuttered in his chest as he caught sight of Draco through their kitchen window, still halfway down the road, kneeling in front of a small orange cat.

"Hi, baby...oh yes you are so sweet, hi little cat."

Harry had to sit down under the force of his love for this irascible, unpredictable man. Only Draco could go from cold-blooded gossip to melting over a cat.

"Psp psp psp...oh yes you are demanding, aren't you...yes hello kitty cat..."

Draco's voice faded into the distance as Harry allowed himself to daydream.

Maybe it was time to get a pet.

The national week for my profession (occupational therapy) is the week of my birthday, with the international OT day being my ACTUAL birthday. Well, I just discovered that Asexuality Awareness Week is the same week.

The universe was not mucking around when planning my life 😂

I came to the sudden realisation today that it is ten weeks until my 10th fanniversary. Which feels like something that I can't let go by without celebrating somehow. So for each week, I am going to rec one of the wonderful creators that I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting through fandom. 

First up is the incredible @corvuscrowned. Crow is such an incredible human, and a delight to know. My brain lights up every time I see Crow's name in the sprint channel, and it is impossible to not love someone who knows that you will need time to make tea.

Crow's writing is incredible, and each fic stays with me for days afterward. The fics are always soft, tender and vulnerable, mixed with the perfect amount of angst, existentialism or philosophy to leave you with something to think about for weeks.

In particular, Crow's FangFest fic has changed me as a person. I truly do not have the words to do this fic justice. Soft, yearning, vampire Draco and weary, tender, non-binary, immortal Harry are everything that I never knew I needed. This fic really makes you think about what it means to love someone in all their forms, through all the ups and downs, as well as what it means to truly live.

Please, please do yourself a favour and read The Seventh Life.

WIP Snip - Tipsy Edition

I have lost count of how many WIP tags I've missed. I'm not actively working on anything that isn't anon, so I've decided that you can have this bundle of insanity, written a couple of months ago after about half a bottle of rose.

Even though this was his fourth pub night, he hadn’t been able to shake the unease that fell on him each time he left the house. He had initially been shocked by the company that his school friends had been keeping since the war, however he had supposed that it had made a strange sort of sense. Without the war - and a bunch of Pureblood pricks - to keep them apart, even he could admit that they all had more alike than different. 

That didn’t mean that he would instantly be happy about spending his Friday nights with two Weasleys, though. That would take more than four weeks - four decades, maybe. If they mellowed a little. 

Draco ordered his drink and made his way to the booth in the corner where the group had an unspoken reservation each week. When he was younger he had expected that being a war hero would have more glitz and glamour, but at twenty he was just grateful for a decent chair in a busy pub on a Friday night. He supposed that Granger and Youngest Boy Weasley were useful for something.

Speaking of which, Draco found himself scanning the group and once again finding them lacking. For the fourth week in a row, their trio had been cut down to a duo, the most heroey of all heroes conspicuously missing. For the fourth week in a row, Draco had the sinking feeling that it was all his fault. 

Something something, reflecting on how he was an evil terrorist prick. Remorse, self-recrimination etc. Harry will never want to see him again, he deserves to be shunned etc etc. She-Weasel has been weirdly nice to him but she probably hates him for keeping her boyfriend from her on Fridays. Although, if she really wanted to be with him she wouldn’t be here. Why aren’t they working on their rabbit-warren of messy-haired gingers?

Relationship Status: Happily married :)

Favorite Colour: Purple 💜 Mainly pale purples like lavender and lilac, but honestly any purple makes me instantly happy. Also pale greens, like the ones that look like they'd feel soft if you touched them.

Favourite Food: Anything I can eat with one hand! But consistent faves/safe foods are hot chips, mac n cheese, and a specific chocolate croissant from a Swedish bakery near work.

Song stuck in my head: My brain has been an actual jukebox today, giving me a knew song whenever a word or phrase triggers it. Right now it's "Like I Can" by Steve Smith because I just saw the Wireless fic for it was posted.

I couldn't go further without mentioning my incredible IWSC family. We've been running this competition for over four years now, but I have known some of these wonderful people for the whole ten years I've been in fandom. 15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

Apart from books I read for school - that I would annotate in pencil and then erase at the end of the unit - I have only ever written in one book. It’s the Rom Chernow a biography of Alexander Hamilton. I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s so dense that I knew that if I didn’t scribble in it I wouldn’t absorb anything!

As a kid I digested books but not anymore. And I’d love to read in the bath but I don’t trust myself to not drop it!!

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

This has unlocked a memory I’d forgotten actually! When I was 6 or 7 I wrote my first “fanfiction” based on a picture book I’d written. I don’t remember much, something about suddenly having twin siblings.

After that it wasn’t until I was 16 that I got back into writing. I’ve always loved it but never saw myself as “creative enough” and struggled with the creative writing units at school. But fanfic has unlocked something in me. The majority of my writing has been for challenges or competitions, but I’ve recently started writing just for myself using only my ideas - or for fests with a broad prompt and multiple months to write. It’s a whole different ball game to writing 2-3k every two weeks, and I love it.
