Sebastian stared at the poster tacked to the tree in confusion. BIRDS AREN’T REAL: Wake Up, Katmere! It proudly proclaimed. Below was a picture of a pigeon labeled GOVERNMENT SURVEILLANCE DRONE. This really was a stretch as far as conspiracy theories went. How could anyone, especially paranormals, fall for such a baseless idea? They’ve lived to see governments rise and fall, and seen birds way before any electronics existed. The worst part of the poster, though, was probably the sharpied in -but Mothman is! next to a sticker of his dad’s head photoshopped onto a shadowy mothman figure. He rolled his eyes and moved to remove the poster, declaring, “This is fucking ridiculous.”

Ciara exited the biology lab with a sigh. Undergrads could be so annoying. And lazy. Teaching was definitely not the path for her, but she needed the funding from the teaching assistantship. Someone standing right outside of the lab startled her as she turned from the door, almost running into them. “Shit!” she exclaimed before catching herself and returning to professionalism. “Are you here to turn in your lab? The 9 a.m. lab is over.”

          Sometimes there were days when Benjamin wished that he was invisible all the time. Being around a ton of people was a difficult thing for him not just because it triggered his anxiety, but he always felt like people were looking at him. He knew that his family had a reputation and he didn’t care. The student courtyard was always way too busy. “This place is too bloody crowded,” he muttered, dodging a frisbee that some shifter wolves were playing with. “Knock it off,” Benjamin yelled, tossing it back towards them with a little more force than he meant to.

          Nicasia was finding that the whole college experience was different than she expected. She went from stressed about classes to bored with classes in a matter of minutes. Was that normal? She wasn’t used to school actually being stressful, since school back home was just her dad. Her hair fell over her face and she knew that she looked like she hadn’t gotten sleep in at least a couple of days, which probably wasn’t far from the truth. “Is all of college like this?” she asked, looking at one of the other library dwellers by her table. “I haven’t slept in like four days.”

Kam chewed the end of their pencil, deep in thought. What was that damn word? Their character was being sarcastic and rude about something serious. It killed Kam that they knew people had called them this but they couldn’t think of it. They turned to the person sitting at the next cafeteria table. “Hey, what’s that word for when someone is being a sarcastic shit? But like, specifically when they make a comment on something?”

“Shit!” Felix shouted as he looked at his hair in the mirror positively horrified, his hair was bright pink and purple, he looked like he belonged in a katy perry video! 

Felix started going through his potion supplies that he occasionally mixed with his baking to help people with things, he had recently made someone an eclaire that was supposed to help them with hair growth, he knew that he had sampled the custard so what had he mixed wrong? 

“Seriously?! who touched my spell components?!” Felix shouted frustrated as he abandoned the box with his components to attempt to see if he was smart enough to have a hat in his bag, he knew it was a false hope considering he really never wore hats but seriously what else was he supposed to do? This was college and everyone had their thing but he was certain that he was going to be the laughing stock of his dorm. 

Felix practically hid below his station in the kitchen as everyone ignored him and left or snickered and left, regardless he was freaking out. 

“Shit shit shit! what am I going to do?!” Felix asked not only did he have to find out how to get back to his dorm but he had to figure out what happened to the other hair spell so he didn’t end up matching with anyone. 

Shit.

This was going to be a long, long day.

“I should have listened when they told me this was a bad idea.” Phineas said, leaning against the counter of the kissing booth with a sigh. It seemed like everyone saw him stationed there and steered clear. He wasn’t sure why, because he got on well with everyone. And yet, here he was, repelling everyone from the booth. It was like he had a signed taped to him telling everyone to keep away. Did he have a sign-? He looked down at his sweater. No, no sign. He sighed again, resting his face in his hand. Maybe if he looked really pathetic someone would take pity on him.

“Look, I’m not saying that you’re wrong, but I’m also not saying that you’re right.” Zoë said, turning from the painting that she was studying to the person standing at the next painting over. They hadn’t necessarily been talking to her, but they had spoken aloud, and she’d felt the need to chime in. “It’s one of those things that’s really subjective, and only the artist knows the answer to that.
