I'm actually genuinely curious about this, so feel free to take as long as you want to respond (or not respond), but what compels you to actively want to write for a fandom as opposed to being satisfied with just reading others' works? For me, it would probably be the lack thereof of something (ie: if I already see a lot of what I like, I don't particularly feel the need to contribute more of it, but when I want something done a specific way, then I feel compelled to create).
same for me, mostly, which i think is why i write quite often for rare-ish pairs. i can also be convinced to write fairly easily when actively participating in a particular community, either a group like a discord server or even just 1 friend who talks to me a lot about particular headcanons/meta/ideas/etc. Pretty sure that's how i got into rex/obi (a mutual on tumblr kept posting about them and i fell into it). sometimes it's enough if i read a really good fic of a particular pairing, and there isn't much else out there for it, so then i'll be like "OK guess i'll share my take on it and do my part to row this little boat along"!
Yeah, for some reason my writing blog got flagged, and I’ve tried appealing TWICE now and have heard NOTHING about it ( @staff) so, instead of waiting around for something to happen, it’s just easier for me to make a whole ‘nother blog. I’m kind of pissed, because I had a fic going on that blog, but I have it saved, so it’s not that big of a deal and I can still access it, so that’s a thing. But yeah.
i nearly missed my highway exit on my drive back from work yesterday because i was thinking about how i’ve been watching shadowhunters and i have so many questions about episode 10
like, the plot holes are just.. so enormous?? if you think about anything that happened in that episode relating to the whole dimensional travel thing for more than two seconds, absolutely NONE of it makes sense?? i’m just.. gonna list my questions, because i have SO MANY and i want to get them all out there so i can move on with my life.
What happens to the Clary and Jace from the alt-verse? i mean, they both disappeared from the shadowhunter-verse in body when they walked through the portal, and they did in the alt-verse too, but like... does that mean they have disappeared forever from the alt-verse. did clary and jace mindmeld with their alt selves and, like, consume them. WHAT.
and if alt-jace and alt-clary do still exist, what the hell happens to them?? alt-jace’s body was the one to be poisoned by that demon!! is he just gonna die???? probably, because who cares about plot holes!!
clary says at one point something along the lines of ‘oh yeah, runes don’t exist here’ like?? of course they do?? shadowhunters existed in the alt past and all the magic in the world is still there, just because you don’t have runes on you because you are possessing your alt body (I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS ENORMOUS PLOT HOLE WHY DO THEY DISAPPEAR FROM THE ALT-VERSE) doesn’t mean they won’t work if you draw them?? altho you don’t have a stele so i guess that’s legit
how does magnus know luke & hodge well enough to put them in commercials. i. i don’t even know how to react to this. why are the relationships the way they are in the alt-verse.
on a side note (i.e. not related to episode 10) where do the seraph blades come from? how does valentine have so many to give to his followers? is this something covered in the books that i don’t know about?
back to the mechanics of dimensional travel: how is it that a piece of the alt-world got to the shadowhunter one?
and if matter can indeed travel through the portal (which, it seems like it can because people disappear, but them they also merge with their other selves?? i. i keep getting stuck on this point) why is it that gear doesn’t get transported through the portal too?
FOR THAT MATTER, HOW COME THE DEMON KEPT IT’S BODY WHEN IT TRAVELED THROUGH THE PORTAL. is it a entropic cascade failure thing (stargate reference) and it’s just that two versions of the same person just can’t exist at once?
i’m so fucking stuck on this weird bodyshare mechanic thing. i’m haunted by questions that will never be answered. HAUNTED.
