spooky here with another question for you. It’s a big one, I’m afraid so I’ll ask lots of sub questions! I jut ordered, why do you write? (other than that you’re really good at it obviously! 😊) What part of the whole process from inception to publishing do you enjoy the most? Are there any parts you find challenging? What do you get from it personally?
Ooh thats quite the question, this response is going to be a bit long so hopefully thats okay!
Okay so I have loved writing ever since I was little tbh, it’s always been a hobby of mine. I had a very active imagination and I have never been good with verbally expressing myself so instead I wrote to express myself and my feelings. I started writing fanfiction when I was in middle school (It was a Nightmare Before Christmas one if anyone's curious) because I have a habit of hyper fixating on certain things so writing fanfiction is just a way of expressing my love for the fandoms and also fulfilling my own little fantasies I guess.
As for why I write for kpop specifically, I don’t want to sound harsh or judgemental and I swear I’m not but honestly it was because I was disappointed with the fanfictions I was reading. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of amazing writers in the fandoms I’m in but I was so tired of seeing the same reactions or the same tropes/themes/endings in very story. So as a result I decided that I was just going to start writing the stories that I wanted to read instead of trying to endlessly search for them if that makes sense? Though it does feel good for sure to know that people think I’m a good writer and that they enjoy my stories just as much as I do.
I don’t think there’s a specific part I enjoy more than others when it comes to my writing, it’s all fairly enjoyable. Though if I had to choose one thing I would probably say either publishing and seeing the finished piece or when I first get an idea and get to start visualizing the details. Not really writing related but making the banners and moodboards for my fics is lowkey really fun also because it helps me visualize what I want. Tbh that and titles are like the first thing I think of when I decide to start a new fic.
The most challenging thing is honestly the fact that I have so many ideas and not enough time. I try to meet deadlines or not wait too long to update because people start to lose interest but it can be so hard to find the time to write. That or I will get an idea for a story and be in the middle of work so there’s no way for me to write my idea down and then when I finally can it’s gone. I swear that is the most frustrating thing in existence when it comes to being a writer.
I kinda already touched on this but the main thing I get from my writing is a story that I enjoy reading as much as I did writing it. My idea is no longer just in my head and now I can properly see it written out. That sense of satisfaction feels so nice every time I finally publish something. Though with certain series the amount of hype and love that I get as a response to what I have written feels really good also. It means I’m making people happy and it’s nice to see them enjoy my idea as much as I do you know?
Wow that was long so sorry again but hopefully that answers the question! 🖤
