Rabindranath Tagore's collection of poetry Gitanjali was actually penned down in Bengali. When he was nominated for the Nobel Prize the situation demanded him to get his book of poetry translated into English. That was a daunting task to do but the man himself, Tagore weaved magic of his wisdom and translated the entire collection into English which later brought home the First Nobel Prize for our motherland India. He was honored with Knighthood as SIR RABINDRANATH TAGORE, but the man in the coming days refused the honor as patriotism was an inseparable part of his character. In fact, it was he who addressed Gandhiji as the MAHATMA while Gandhiji bestowed the title of Gurudev on Tagore.
