🌷 — A PROMISE. For genma :)
The reason I have written this out is because I do not want to leave any stone unturned in the exposition of my thoughts. And the reason you are hearing me read this letter out to you right now is because I want to speak these words in person, so that you would remember these words in the sound of my voice, and so that my spoken words will be bound in the present, locked in a moment of time that cannot be reversed or re-lived.
Last night, I caught myself replaying the kiss we shared over and over again. As I did confess yesterday, my request was not an impulsive one, but an idea that had been on my mind for quite some time, only that I worried you might not enjoy it.
It must be said, it must, that I thoroughly enjoyed kissing you. Although the way our lips intertwined was exquisite beyond measure, I will also now clarify that my feelings for you extend beyond lust.
You are dear to me, and I wish to make that abundantly clear. And while we are in the budding stages of exploring a newfound spectrum of love that has not yet blossomed into full maturity, I have already loved you for many years.
I would like to end this letter with a promise. I have made many promises to many people over the years, and I'm sure you, of all my friends, know how important it is to me that I keep the promises I make. This promise is one I do not make lightly.
Genma, I promise you my utter devotion for as long as you might wish to have it. When I am with you, you will have all my attention. When I am away from you, I will think of you. And when you call, I will come running -- and you should know that I am the fastest man alive, so I shall pride myself with the fact that no one will run more quickly to you than I can.
I hope I do not overwhelm you with the tempest of my emotions; as you have told me often through the years, there are times I should pause, and wait, and think. Be assured that I have sat the entire evening with the words I wish to say to you.
Lastly, would you care to accompany me for dinner tomorrow, followed by an evening walk up the east hill? It is said that there will be a meteor shower, and I should like to catch such a captivating sight with you beside me.
With utmost sincerity and in earnest appeal,
Maito Gai
