"Sakura told me I should listen to my body," Sai is sitting in the window, he was not there five seconds ago. "Naruto said that listening to your body is for women, and then they started fighting."
He holds up an iced coffee, rattles it at Zabuza, and smiles gently. "So I think I will continue abusing caffeine and other stimulants, because that's what my body is telling me to do."
zabuza wishes he could say he doesn't startle, but there's the slightest jump of his shoulders when he turns to see sai sitting in the window he only just opened. he wonders how long he'd been waiting for zabuza to open it, and why everyone in his newfound strange little family has such an aversion to doors. maybe it's a konoha thing.
his instinct is to laugh, so he does. a loud bark of a noise, and he'd be more concerned about startling kakashi awake, but he's off challenging his man of destiny or something. zabuza wasn't really listening because kakashi's hand had been in his hair, fingers scratching gently against his scalp and lulling him back to sleep.
"pretty sure that isn't what she meant when she said listen to your body," he says, a smirk curling at the corners of his lips. sakura should have been entirely more clear, he's almost a little disappointed that she walked so easily into that one. "but it's good that you chose not to listen to naruto, i'll tell you that."
peering over at the food still simmering on the stove, then back to sai, zabuza exhales a short breath. "you better have gotten me a coffee if you expect to eat any of this."
