Kayden shouted at jiwoo who was caught distracted by the new presence. He had thought for a moment that his mentor would agree with you but he seemed to have the training as his priority. Five minutes later his earlier thoughts were proven right. As Jiwoo slump into the ground, finished for the time being, Kayden transformed into his human form and started walking towards you who was still waiting at the end of the stairs. "Give me a moment, I'll change."

"- challenge us again when your grandson got strong-!!" SMACK "Sorry about that, He's a bit special." You utter as you drag the man by the back of his neck away from the top 10 also known as Veramonde and dump him with the rest of his gang. Jiwoo could only sweat drop as he watches Kayden rub the back of his neck with a frown on his face, mumbling something under his breath, a soft glare thrown at your direction in which you returned with a harsh one causing the other to back away. "Do you ever get scared of him?" Jiwoo asked as the two- three of you were left in the house as you wait for the catastrophic event to pass. "Kai- you mean Kayden?" You asked, trying to confirm who he was talking about and then he nod. "I did, but that was a long, long time ago." You answer. "If you ask me now, rather than being scared. I think he's being pretty cute." You chuckle, and then you stood up. "I think they're here."

Prologue

"I don't want to go to school."

"Is that so? But you'll miss your classes and you won't see your friends."

"I won't. I want to be with you, sis."

You bent down to your brother's level, looked into his eyes, they were teary, and he barely managed a smile; a sad expression dominated his small face.

"Sure, I think you'll end up getting bored in my classes, Jiwoo." You smiled at your brother's refusal and his little pout; it was adorable.

"I won't, ___, I just don't want to go to school alone."

"And what about your friends?"

Jiwoo didn't answer, he just avoided your gaze, looking down at the ground, looking guilty, as if he wanted to keep you from discovering his secret.

"Oh, I see…" You didn't press him, even though you wanted to know more about your brother's school life, even though you had just discovered that it was lonely, even though you were worried.

"Okay, little buddy, you know I can't take you with me," you said, taking his hands and squeezing them affectionately. Your brother seemed to sink deeper with your refusal.

"But we'll do this," you said, taking a teddy bear from your backpack and placing it in your brother's hands. "Until I come to pick you up, my little piggy friend will keep you company."

You watched your brother gently pick up your stuffed animal, as if it were the most fragile thing in the world, his eyes shining.

"And not just today, he'll stay with you every day. You just have to take care of him and not lose him. He'll be your friend, just like he was mine." You raised your pinky finger, beginning with a promise. "You have to promise." You smiled at your brother's bright smile.

"You have to promise." Jiwoo, still distracted by the plush toy his sister had given him, barely heard the promise, but he quickly accepted it as soon as he realized it. Anything to see his sister happy and to take care of one of her precious belongings. He smiled; it was a gift from his sister, and that day was one of the happiest.

Since that day, he kept the stuffed pig in his backpack, always taking care of it. Every time he looked at it, he remembered his sister. Even when he was far away from her because of classes, he did not feel so alone thanks to the gift you had given him.

Even in the hospital, Jiwoo, injured and lying on a stretcher, kept the keychain with the plush toy his beloved sister had given him by his side, perched on a bedside table.

His friends always saw Jiwoo attached to that childhood toy wherever they went together, "a very precious gift," as Jiwoo had told them. They didn't quite understand at first, attributing it to an emotional attachment, but they accepted it; it was something that made Jiwoo happy, after all.

That's why, when his friends saw him fighting for his life in his critical condition, they left the plush pig next to him.

You walked quickly to reception, as fast as your heels would allow. Between the shock of the message you received and your haste, you didn't notice how awkward your outfit was in the ER.

"I'm looking for Jiwoo Seo."

"He's in recovery. Only family members can visit him," the nurse at reception replied calmly, still typing on her computer.

"I'm his legal guardian." Those words were enough to guide you to the room you were looking for.

You disconnected from the world, thinking about all the possibilities that awaited your brother. Would he recover? Would he end up with serious injuries? Would he even wake up? Would he…would he leave you?

Just thinking about the possibilities made your eyes water, and your legs felt weak. The world around you began to spin.

You recovered when you bumped into a tall woman with long, straight black hair. Her eyes were sharp and dark; her appearance was striking.

"I'm sorry," you apologized, before regaining your composure. Your voice trembled, and you were on the verge of tears.

When you looked up, you were surrounded by many faces, young and old.

You didn't have time to think or recognize everyone. The nurse let you into your brother's room, curiously the place where everyone in the hallway had their eyes fixed.

Upon entering the room, you were met with a heartbreaking scene: your brother lying unconscious on a stretcher, his face covered in scrapes, his arms burned, limp and lifeless. He still wore a smile despite his gaunt appearance.

You could still see the little boy who used to smile at you and run to hug you. It was difficult seeing him for the first time, lying on the hospital gurney, and even after a few minutes, your heart still pounded.

"Jiwoo, what did they do to you?" You approached calmly, hoping everything would change, that your brother would wake from his nap on the couch, surrounded by cats.

Nothing changed. Even as you blinked, your brother lay on the gurney.

"I should never have listened to you…" you whispered, angrily berating yourself. Perhaps if you had stayed, you wouldn't have let Jiwoo get hurt.

Carefully, you brought your hands to your brother's face, your fingers slowly tracing his cheeks, that sweet gesture that brought him such joyful laughter when Jiwoo was very little.

You gently smoothed his hair, remembering when he would ask you to comb it before you took him to school. It was a ritual Jiwoo never missed; he always insisted you comb his hair.

"Oh, my little… sunshine," you whispered, before sobbing, unable to contain the pain.

Your voice caught as moans of pain escaped your throat.

You tried to wipe away your tears, to remain calm in front of your sleeping brother; you didn't want to alarm him.

You tried to swallow your pain, to be strong and be there when your brother woke up. But your tears kept flowing.

Without you noticing, they slid down your cheeks, and several fell onto your brother's skin, first on his arms, then on his clothes and face.

Translucent tears turned golden and shimmering in an instant. Slowly, these drops, like rays of sunlight, dissolved on Jiwoo's skin, leaving no trace.

"Sister," his voice called to you, but you thought it was your imagination, until he called you "sister" again. When you looked up, you saw a weak Jiwoo calling to you, his voice breaking.

You caught a glimpse of Jiwoo's faint smile. How could he still be happy in his condition? you wondered.

Of course, you didn't know that just having you by his side made Jiwoo happy. His older sister was with him, and even in his pain, he felt that everything was alright. Jiwoo still regretted supporting you in pursuing your dream. He didn't want to be selfish with you, yet he hated that you were away from him.

Their hands met, Jiwoo moved them effortlessly, they remained intertwined for a long time, even as you continued to cry, even after you calmed down and began to talk, and as you gradually lost strength until you fell asleep. Jiwoo tightened his grip as he felt yours weaken.

Jiwoo watched you sleep with shining eyes, his face still red from crying. He felt guilty for causing you such distress. He didn't stop looking at you even when he was exhausted; seeing you again made him happy. Just thinking about never seeing you again after their fight made him paranoid, but now he could calm down.

Having you by his side was like a cure for Jiwoo. He no longer felt pain; he even felt his arms working better, something that contradicted Dr. Delein's words about his arms regaining mobility slowly.

"And who are you?" asked a rough-looking boy with streaks of white hair.

You barely glanced at him; you thought about ignoring the young man. You still felt drained of energy, you just wanted to lie down somewhere and cry until sleep overtook you.

Jiwoo was still in critical condition, those were the doctor's words. While it was a miracle that her arms began to regain mobility quickly and that the burns were healing, her organs were still severely damaged… although you suspected something else was wrong. And that was what worried you.

"Shouldn't I ask you the same thing?" You looked at the boy, still tired. His friends were behind him, their faces also serious.

"Well, I asked first."

You looked at the floor, calming your head, which was starting to ache from forcing your muscles to contract so much to cry.

"I'm ___ Seo, Jiwoo's sister."

"Oh, you're Jiwoo's sister?" the girl in the group exclaimed, surprised but clearly excited.

"Sister," the most serious boy in the group repeated, seemingly analyzing what you'd said.

Of course, you didn't know your brother had kept it from you so you'd come back quickly. If you'd thought he was still alone, you would have felt worried and returned. Of course, he planned to tell you later that he'd made friends, amazing ones, but first he needed you to get home.

"But looking at you more closely, you do resemble Jiwoo a little," the boy with white streaks said, circling you and staring intently.

"___, do you think you can wear this coat?"

"Don't you think it's a little childish, especially for going shopping?" Your brother looked saddened to see you conflicted about wearing the coat.

"It's just that I don't want us to look like each other anymore."

"Do you really want that?" you asked, still hesitant. What kid in his right mind wants to match and look like his sister?

"More than anything," your brother agreed decisively.

You couldn't hold back the tears, just remembering how your brother seemed to enjoy that you were so alike, not only in appearance but also in clothing. He always smiled when he called you his sister.

"Look what you did, Jisuk!" the girl in the group hit her friend.

"Hey, I didn't do anything, he just started crying."

"Oh, and you think your personality had nothing to do with it?" The girl grabbed the boy's shirt tightly, but he didn't back down and grabbed part of his friend's shirt too.

You quickly tried to intervene, first calming yourself down, using the handkerchief offered to you by the only boy in the group who wasn't fighting, the calmest one.

"I'm sorry, I lost my temper. Don't worry, guys," you tried to reassure them.

"Don't feel guilty. We know Jisuk crossed the line by bothering you." The girl pulled her friend's hair hard, and he complained angrily.

The commotion continued until a nurse appeared and reprimanded the young people. You had to take responsibility and promise to keep them in line before they were expelled.

"You know, unnie, you're really pretty," Subin fluttered around you, impressed by your presence. Not only were you her friend's sister, but you were simply stunning to her. From the moment she first saw you when you entered the room, she saw how you fit in perfectly, illuminating everything you stepped on and the surrounding area.

"Oh, that… thanks," you stammered, still embarrassed and unsure how to react. You sat still on one of the sofas, facing the stares of your brother's friends.

"Wow, those Seo genes," Jisuk commented teasingly.

Woo In nodded steadily, his face calm. Still staring at you, he saw you as a copy of Jiwoo—the same smile, the same eyes full of emotion, the same light that filled the room and touched everyone around you. He felt the same affection for you as he did for his friend.

"Stop, they're going to make me die of embarrassment," you laughed at the children, who kept showering you with compliments… for a moment you forgot how worried you were about your brother, for a moment, then your face turned melancholic.

"Uhh, you know, Jiwoo looks better than when she arrived at the hospital, she's recovering quickly… she doesn't look like she's on the verge of death anymore…" Jisuk tried to comfort you; something about seeing you cry bothered him.

"Worse… you say she was worse?" You trembled at the thought.

"Hey, it's about cheering her up, not making her cry," Subin scolded his friend.

You started crying just thinking about that scene.

"He's exaggerating, Jiwoo never looked like she was on the verge of death," Woo In tried to reassure you, while handing you another tissue.

You took it carefully, wiping away your tears again, though it was useless; you didn't feel your sadness ending.

"Aww, guys, you're so kind. Jiwoo was really lucky to meet you."

"No, we were the lucky ones to meet him," they all said, repeating the same words in different tones.

"Wow, you're really sweet."

That warmed the hearts of the young people present; they felt proud of your compliment.

"You know, I think it's time for everyone to eat." Your words were a blessing for the boys. "My treat!" they all exclaimed excitedly. "Besides, we should buy Jiwoo something delicious before she wakes up." It was a mission, or a distraction from the growing anxiety and Jiwoo's still-serious despondency.

The boys took your hand and dragged you to a restaurant near the hospital. They were tired of eating the hospital food, and you offering them something different was paradise.

The handkerchief you borrowed slipped from your hands and fell to the floor.

Worried, you tried to retrieve it, but it was too late. You were already being dragged along by the children, and now you'd have to apologize to Woo In for losing his handkerchief.

But you didn't see the black-haired man with his acquaintance near the hallway, listening to the last part of their conversation, nor did you see him approach to pick up your handkerchief. If you knew Jiwoo, you should show respect.

A fluttering beneath the handkerchief startled him. When he picked it up, a moth flew out, and other small insects scurried across the floor in different directions. It was as if they had come back to life or been released from a prison, but a handkerchief wet with tears couldn't hold insects, could it?

As you were still glaring at your ex-fiancé, who was attempting to touch your arm and engage you in conversation, Jiyoung walked into the shop. You internally facepalmed at the poor girl's timing.

You were not sure how you got in this situation. You just wanted to shop for your boyfriend and you not only bumped into your ex fiance but also his crush. Jiyoung was looking at you equally confused as you were looking at her. You thought you should leave the shop as soon as possible as you didn't wanted to

face him .

In fact you were shocked when you heard his voice but your heart was hardened as you looked at him and said in a stern voice.

"I'm sorry, Jurian (though you weren't), but the last time we were together, I distinctly remember breaking off the engagement. Then again, you might not recall that, given your lack of interest. Have a nice day."

With that , you started to walk away from him . Knowing well it wouldn't be long that Kayden would be here... After reaching the hospital you got to know that it was emergency as you got the news that Jiwoo's core was shattered and it was impossible to fix it. That's why you were now alone in the room with Jiwoo as Kayden was out to contact Kartein. And Subin was gone to bring Dr. Delein to heal Jiwoo. And as much as you know Jiwoo was sleeping.... As you felt your powers being drained. But you tried to focus on Jiwoo more.. a bit more... Only a little bit more... And suddenly the you heard Subin's voice you grumbled as you withdrew from Jiwoo's chest.

And that person must be really stronger then... Because it's not easy to bring something almost dead back to life. He looked at you suspiciously.. you looked away from the Dr. Subin then introduced you to the Dr. As Jiwoo's another friend and not Awakened

May be he was just contemplating.... May be his guess was wrong.... You can't be an awakened right...Soon as he touched your hand to shake hands with you he felt a surge of energy into him... His weakness was gone in a few ..or may be you did heal the boy...

You had seen how Gestella looked at Kayden and you couldn't help but feel a tiny lump stuck in your throat that made it hard to swallow.

It made you feel uneasy since you didn't know what to do, because, on one hand, she helped Jiwoo but on the other, she was looking at Kayden as if she wanted something.

It also didn't help when you asked about Gestella, Kayden only shrugged it off and left it at that.

You tried to ignore it for a few days but the weight it added to your shoulders only got heavier and heavier, and it kept your mind occupied when you tried to sleep.

What were you supposed to do? You tried to talk to Kayden on multiple occasions but he just said 'don't worry about it', but how could you not worry about it? Is there really nothing to worry about? Were you just overreacting?

The distress you got from it was starting to get noticeable, your eyebags had gotten darker, and your shoulders were slumped forward plus you were constantly biting and picking on your nails.

Because you couldn't stop thinking it made you feel useless compared to Gestella, she was in the top 10, but you? You were just a normal human with no awakened powers, and because of that, you began to think you didn't deserve Kayden. It made you think 'dear god, if he can't be with me, let him be with her'

While you were going through all that Kayden had started to notice you acting strange and as you kinda began to distance yourself from him, which was making him feel kinda pissed but also a tiny bit worried.

After a while, he went over to you and asked you why you'd been acting weird and why you were avoiding him.

It was that very moment when everything you had bottled up broke free and you had broken down in front of him sobbing because of the pent-up stress.

Everything you had been worrying about spilled from your mouth in a jumbled mess. It was first then in that moment Kayden realized how bad you were feeling.

It made him feel stupid and disappointed in himself for not noticing your feelings earlier and trying to reassure and make sure you knew he only had eyes for you and only you.

And because he can't go back in time to fix this, he decided to hold you tight in his arms and let you cry while he listened to everything you said.

When you had calmed down a bit only then did he begin to talk, he apologized for making you feel like this and not noticing your distress and simply brushed it off when you had asked him.

He made sure to tell you that he had no plans of dating someone else than you because no one was prettier, nicer nor as affectionate towards him as you were.

And he would never end what he has with you just to be with someone else because he loves you and only you and nothing will nor can change that and he will have made sure you know that by the end of the night.

You complied with his request. Your hand is now in Kayden's hair, stroking his hair gently. Kayden seemed to enjoy it. You can also smell Kayden's hair, it's really soothing.

"things like this rarely happen. did something happen?" you asked in a low voice. "If only I wasn't busy, I would always be like this..."

Your hand stopped stroking Kayden's hair, makes Kayden groan. "Why did you stop?"

"It's morning, Kayden. We have to wake up." You tried to get out of Kayden's arms, but Kayden's power is stronger than yours.

When Kayden let go of his arm, you'd think he'd wake up. But apparently he tickles you until you're almost out of breath. "Kayden, s- stop!" Only the sound of your laughter can be heard in the room.

Kayden stopped his activities. Kayden pressed his forehead against yours, allowing you to feel Kayden's hot breath.

"Come on, just for today, just the two of us spending time together." Kayden's smile makes you smile too.
