The sound of water boiling, the air fryer's fan running, and the smell of brownies setting in the oven–which filled the cozy cottage that you settle in, called home. While you're busy wiping the countertops and turning over the partially cooked salmon, you hear the keys to the door jingle, indicating that your fiancé is home.

After turning off the stove top, you hurry to the front door to welcome kayden home with warmth that, he admits, feels different than anything that he's ever felt before.

"You're right on time! Dinner is ready, i made your favorite." you say to the tall figure towering over you, with his hands at the top of the door frame. "You know the way to my heart." kayden replied with a slight curve on his lips, his eyes soft on you.

Kayden looks down at the table, realizing there is only one meal. "Aren't you gonna eat, my love?" he asks while looking back up at you. "I got full after multiple taste testing," you chuckle at the long-haired man.

The table is set, the whole house is dim, and the two of you sitting facing each other at the dinner table–lit up by ambient lighting in the background of the kitchen.

“Okay, I’ll help myself then.” his smile soft.

As Kayden is enjoying his heart-filled dinner, he realized you have been staring at him for an odd amount of time. “How was today’s session?” you cut the silence with a question. “Like usual, jiwoo's getti..." kaydens ramble gradually becomes unfocused as your mind wander to things further.

You placed your hand on kaydens big, rough hands, and he's slightly startled by the sudden touch. Suddenly, the lingering smell of the kitchen wears off as kaydens fainting cologne invades your sense of smell instead. His eyes sharp and alert, his broad shoulders complementing his firm biceps, strands of his hair hanging over his forehead, and his lips. His lips, ever so delicate and peach, make you wanna devour him and kiss him all over.

"Is something bothering you?," kayden questioned while still lightly chewing.

A spark of curiosity lit his dark blue eyes as they met your own, which were wide with a feeling you couldn't hold back.

There was a pause that seemed too long.

Your gaze flickered between Kayden and the bedroom, a silent invitation lingering in your eyes, hinting at a desire left unspoken.

Your hair dangling over your shoulders, head tilted to one side increasing your cute stats, long lashes fluttering over glistening eyes, complementing your pinky cheeks.

This view of you is something else, causing him to pause his chewing, even slightly choking on his food. He withdraws his hand from your grasp, reaching for a tissue to wipe his mouth, his movements laced with nervousness and his warm cheeks matching yours.

Kayden exhales softly, setting his utensils down before rising up from his seat. Without a word, he effortlessly lifts you into his arms bridal-style towards the bedroom. As he strides towards the bedroom, you find your way to his hair, undoing his ponytail with a gentle tug.

Your eyes travel from his navy blue strands to his well-defined jaw, then to his smirk, filled with excitement and a hint of fluster.

sunset spilled across the floor, quiet and golden. you sat curled up on the windowsill, lost in thoughts—the ones that never asked for permission to enter, the unwelcome ones. it had been a while since you’ve had these thoughts, and you’ve kept them hidden well. but this time, your chest would only ache the more you kept it in; begging to let it out.

your chest is heavy, breathing inconsistent. looking out to the crimson, orange sunset only made you feel more overwhelmed. you sighed and turned your head down, letting your hair hide you like a veil.

it seemed like you were so deep in your thoughts that you never realized your fiancé was right beside you. from the outside you looked, calm. but kayden knew better.

he leaned onto the wall across from you, arms crossed with a curious look on his face. “what’re ya thinking about?” his voice soft and low, testing the waters. he noticed the sad energy radiating from you, intense—almost like he could feel it.

slowly looking up, unveiling your glossy and sad eyes.

his expression softened, eyes low, fixated on you. a feeling that’s new, seeping into him like ink and water—slow but certain.

kayden walks over to you, his steps quiet, his demeanor calm, and his heart ready to comfort. he’s never had to comfort anyone—he didn’t need to.

but this was, you.

as youre crying and pouring your heart out, kayden’s hands cupped your cheek, wiping away your tears wit his thumb. he still tries even if there were more tears that fell than he had thumbs. he’s trying. because for his love, he would do anything. even if he’s never done it before.

the rant was over, your chest feels lighter, breathing more controlled. the sound of kaydens heartbeat, the warmth of his chest, his slow and consistent breathing, was more comforting than anything else. kaydens not the type to talk to comfort, he shows it. and here, he’s doing it better than most without saying a word.
