When Lucas had started out his session in the training room, he’d done it with the intention that he was going to get in some arts training to warm up. He always felt like the stress on his body eased him into any large scale; or detailed illusion that he wanted to craft. It got his blood pumping; energy flowing and stimulated his brain into better use of his ability. It made him believe that he’d be able to push himself further the more he was ramped up for it.
There wasn’t much more Luc could do with his illusions that he hadn’t already mastered; he could use both his imagination; knowledge and memories to create the most intricate of them. The thing with him was that it just never seemed like it was at its peak.
His hand smacked the floor at the end of the hall before he pivoted and made a run for the other end; he was attempting to best his time for laps and so far, he was only around two seconds off the mark. Two seconds too much. So when he skidded along the floor to mark the end of it, his eyes glanced to his watch, ceasing the timer. 1.37ms off his best. It seemed so little, but he knew that he could do better, he always believed he could. Greenman hadn’t paid much attention when he heard the whirring of the training hall’s door open behind him, he was too busy taking a breather and resetting his watch timer, he’d heard the room in action a few times during his runs. He’d move on to the other room; the one with the power containment walls soon enough.
Lucas was never concerned much about being seen training, with his powers or not. Catching his breathing, he grabbed the front of his white tee and pulled it forwards, separating it from his body to let some cool air flow down his chest and dry some of the sweat lining his skin. He turned eventually to grab his water and carry it into the larger training hall, finally catching the eye of the one person who’d been in the door not long ago. For a moment, it shocked him; there was a winged person darting about the room, clawed talons where feet should be. He’d seen a lot at Grimstone, but this was a first; he knew the face of the morphed creature too; the siren.
“Kayleigh,” he nodded with a smile as the name let his lips, it was automatic as if to acknowledge her immediately before he stared too long. He wasn’t always open for distractions when he was training, but Kayleigh wasn’t exactly the easiest to resist by any means; by now, Luc wasn’t even sure if that was down to the siren aspect of her or if she was just naturally gifted with beauty past that. Above all, Lucas didn’t care about how she was, she just was. If he tried to understand it, he’d probably crumble to defeat and he hated to lose.
Their last encounter had been a lot different than this too; he’d been pummelled in the head by a falling branch and likely was a little aloof in the aftermath. Here, now, he was a lot more himself; that meant he was a little more recklessly fearless even in the face of someone he knew had powers to likely overcome his own. “Is this the yoga you’re talking about?” he asked with a smirk, shifting gaze between her and the large, power containing room knowingly. Nobody comes here to do yoga; they come to do controlled damage. By the shifted form, she could probably do just that. Lucas was somehow not as instantly wary as before when they met; he was riled from his pre-session and he felt ready to exert some power. “I wasn’t aware yoga carried such beautiful danger.” he added, taking a large sip of his water before placing it in the corner of the room.
Greenman’s eyes only left the women for a moment; letting his guard down even to someone he didn’t think would intentionally be out to hurt him was still hard with the knowledge of what she was. She’d told him before she wasn’t a fighter, but he knew enough about myth to assume she didn’t exactly need to be in conflict to do damage with her ability. Then again, neither did he.
