An Ode to Princess Cimorene of Linderwall
I remember the first time I met you
You had some how found your way inside our mountain
With three knocks and a snap,
Asking one of us to take you in
Even thought it “just wasn’t done.”
And winning our good favor
By leading a sneezing dragon
Four of your handkerchiefs
Even though each was burnt to dust.
Woraug wanted to eat you,
But making you my princess
Was the best thing I have ever done
My library has never been so neat
And your cherries jubilee is much tastier
Than any princess’ flesh has ever tasted.
Though my fellow dragons scoffed,
And said I should not take you on,
I knew I could never go wrong
With a princess as brave and clever as you.
This was a request poem to write a poem from the POV of a fantasy character about the story they were in. I wrote about Princess Cimorene from the book Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede, from the perspective of her dragon Kazul.
