KCSB, ILY2
Last night's show started with 2 songs from the great Centrafrican Jazz, a beloved group from the Central African Republic đ¶ The band was led by Prosper MayĂ©lĂ©, pictured on the album cover above. According to the incredible site Maziki.fr, Prosper filled in as guitarist for the Congolese band African Jazz during a show of theirs in the Central African Republic in 1954. The bandleader Joseph Kabasele was so impressed by Prosper's playing, he offered him a spot in his band. Prosper didn't take him up on the offer, but instead he started his own band, which would eventually become Centrafrican Jazz đšđ«đ¶ *Orchestre Centrafrican Jazz "Zia Ti Toto" [CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC] *Orchestre Centrafrican Jazz "Abeber" [CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC] *LĂ©on Bukasa "Kitambala moko" [DRC] *Orchestre Rock A Mambo (ft. âMankindâ by Ethereal
This is the man who played an integral part in crafting the sound of one of the brightest young stars of our generation, so itâs safe to say âMankindâ is a damn important album. The sonic flavor of Etherealâs beats are the backbone on which Playboi Carti built his entire style off of, and which eventually evolved into smash records like âMagnoliaâ and âWokeuplikethisâ. Thatâs not to downplay Etherealâs own vocal prowess though, as his rapping is underratedly compelling, employing the same sort of lowkey flow, but with even better lyrics for you to delve into.
