Being nonverbal in school: absolute torture, had to speak despite it causing me physical pain

Being nonverbal at work: I now know that I am loved and valued as a person, everyone was super patient when I wrote sth down for them and extra gentle when talking to me

I thought that statements like "well at least we dont live in the US and have pretty good health insurance instead of worrying about ging bankrupt when we get sick" were an exlusively non-US american thing that we use to make ourselves feel netter about our still far from perfect healthcare system but today a friend of mine said that the biggest reasons he stayed in Germany were 1. the food, 2. bis wife and 3. that he will survive having Diabetes here with an affordable healthcare system instead of paying hundreds of dollars for medicine he needs to survive. So i suppose its not actually that far off.

Instead of outing themself to the rest of the theatre, one of my friends/colleagues is letting me use their name and pronouns in presence of and conversations with the others to see who catches on, which is a slower but much more fun process than my 15 page powerpoint about gender identities and pronouns from back in the day.

Remembering how at my last job, I called my boss at 7 in the morning and said "I can't work today, [girlfriend] just broke up with me" and his response was "Oh no, I am so sorry. Do you need anything? Ice cream? Chocolates?" and asking my other boss, his fiancé, what Imight need and if she could take over my job today. (They lived like 2mins from my place and he helped me move in, so he was actually gonna get some chocolate for me and put it in my mailbox or sth) Meanwhile I have to take the day off to go to the doctors at my new job
