Prompt #28: Fear

Murphy doesn't think she's been more afraid in her life.

Biting her lip nervously, she carefully pushes out the thin block of wood from the center of the stack of them. Near its base at that.

Everyone watches, holding their breath.

Watches as the tower shivers and quivers. But, ultimately, stands standing upright.

"All right, Murphy, you did it!" The Keeper cheers. Quietly. Very quietly.

Murphy raises her chin, puffing out her chest. "Of course I did, no one has more careful hands than me."

"We'll see about that," Jenkins scoffs. Eyes narrowed, she eyes the stack of blocks herself. Her fingers flex as she picks out her target.

"There!"

"Squeak!"

The pickpocket slides out a block even more precariously placed than Murphy's, if possible. Closer to the base. Right above it, in fact.

Again, everyone holds their breath. The tower shakes even more than the last time. But again, it stands still.

"See? Steadiest hands in all of Londonium, that's me," Jenkins boasts.

"Oh boy, it's my turn." The Keeper breathes out. Too much. The breath presses against the wood and then the tower's already unstable foundation in turn.

The tower falls.

"Nooooo!"

So I just finished chap. 5 of Morimens and RAMONA AND THE KEEPER IS DATING 100% I will not accept any other explanation. Mostly counting chap. 5 spoilers cuz I play chapters with a monthly interval so the details are somewhat vague in my head.

Ramona has almost always looked out for the Keeper (and them only) when in peril, pulled some adrenaline fuelled move to get the Keeper to safety (and succeeded wtf) in a situation neither of them could win in, pulled herself together so fast and organized a rescue operation in 2 secs to save the Keeper's ass with 2 ppl she barely knows. Hell this girl barely glanced at Tulu who is Not Supposed To Be There at all and if it was any other situation I bet she would've lectured him about Awakener safety like the Keeper initially had.

And that's just Ramona I'm talking about, cause did anyone else witness that mess the Keeper became every time they separate? Girl was ready to go apeshit after finding out Miryam intends to offer her gf as nourishment for her ritual. And back in chap. 4 when they'd split up the Keeper was a literal wreck worrying about Ramona-for good reason but still, I digress.

Also, the narration just loves to point out that they act in sync a lot, that they're so in tune they can read each other's minds like ughhhhh. And Doll, god Doll is so done lmao. She even went as far as pulling Lotan away to let them have their moment and that other time when she just straight up told Dexter that Ramona has a date with the Keeper aafrgbfsg I can't breathe wtf.

So. SO. In conclusion : why are there so few fics of them in AO3 please I'm begging they're so cute together I'm gonna perish if I don't get more content of them together.

Prompt #25: Chrysalis

"...are you sure that this is perfectly safe?" The Keeper's voice says, somewhat muffled, from an artificial chrysalis woven of silken blankets. "That you're not going to try to turn me into a bug again, Clementine?"

"Of course not," Clementine assures them. "This would be too blatant of a trap to use against you. Now, if I tried anything, you would feel it in an instant and fight your way out, am I not correct?"

A pause. Another muffled reply. "...I guess. So what are you doing?"

Clementine taps the soft exterior with her shoe. "Tell me, how does it feel being inside of it? Comfortable? Entrapping?"

"Um, I guess I feel..." The bundle squirms a little as the Keeper presumably shifts around inside of it. "Itchy? A little trapped. But it is warm, so thanks?"

"Oh, this isn't for you." Clementine turns to smile at the other individual in the room.

"Ready to start your experiment now, Doll?"

Doll Inferno smiles.

"Wonderful."
