“I honestly don’t know if I should take that as a compliment or not.”

Dodge ball. It had seemed like a happy medium. Caspian had a high amount of stress this week thanks to a complicated mix up with one of his planned expeditions out to South Korea. His friend had no doubt seen the tension, and though her suggestion to beat each other up was enticing (not at all), he was more than happy they managed to find a middle point. Except, after getting a little carried away, laughing at a small slip up Caspian had on his team, he ended up playfully kicking the ball to Autumn.
But of course, the soccer captain in him came out. And a playful jest became a broken nose. Caspian had booked himself over to her, waving off the series of flying balls that were in coming as he jogged over to her and set a hand on her shoulder. A flash of panic and guilt mixing together in a worry filled concoction.
❝ Oh Gods! Autumn, Autumn, are you okay? Oh Gods I’m so sorry I didn’t –– ❞ he stopped himself, just barely recognizing his own triggering phrase in time. He breathed a sigh of relief out as he halted his words, moving her short bangs from her face with care. ❝ I swear that was NOT what I meant to do. ❞
[do any of your muses have particular self-care routines they like to do after a rough day?]
{WHY YES, THEY DO
Out of all of the residents of Aisling,Tessa’s self-care routine is the most structured. She’s a busy spirit, ya know? She needs to pamper herself sometimes. First she takes a bubble bath with eucalyptus shower gel (Alistair makes it and it smells divine). She then brushes out her hair. After this is done, she rearranges the feathers on her wings. It is a long process that requires multiple mirrors from different angles and a special brush she has that won’t tear out any feathers while removing the ones that have already separated. The final thing she does is go to the Aviary, where she sits among her birds and listens to them. She doesn’t have an alternate plan when it doesn’t make her feel better (which happens more often than she’d like to admit).
Jacob likes to lay back in his tree and play his guitar. He’s not practicing or anything, just mindlessly strumming the strings. He also likes to cloud-gaze. It may sound mind-numbing to some, but it soothes him to watch the clouds slowly go by. He won’t usually talk about what’s bothering him.
Seth likes to meditate. He learned how to do it in high school, so he’s pretty good at it by now. He also loves doing face masks (also made by Alistair). His favorites are the ones that tingle a little bit, so he has a sensation to focus on while he is meditating. He then likes to paint with watercolors. Him focusing on getting saturation just right and making sure his lines are clean helps him forget whatever was bothering him.
Piras just retreats into Seth. They then like to float around in Seth’s soul and rest. They often find it hard to deal with their emotions, even after all this time in Aisling. So, they find it easier to retreat and reflect. When they’re not particularly stressed out, they like to sunbathe. They have a particular spot in Aisling that is perfectly out of the way that they like to retreat to. They like sunbathing for the same reason they like retreating to Seth’s soul: they like being surrounded by warmth.
Winona is pretty easygoing, so rough days aren’t very common for her. But, when they do happen, she likes to keep herself busy. She throws herself into doing the things she enjoys. She will tend to the flowers and do an inspection of the trees. After all is said and done, she likes to go to a babbling brook in a far off part of Aisling that she finds particularly lyrical. She will sit and listen to ambient sounds around her as she soaks her feet in the cool water. She will often talk aloud and air her grievances. She likes to think that her mistresses, wherever they are, are listening to her.
Alistair is probably the worst out of all of them when it comes to taking care of himself. But, when times are particularly rough, he will sit in his favorite wingback chair and chainsmoke for way longer than anyone probably should. He then brews himself a particularly strong pot of tea and drinks it all in one sitting. If none of that makes him feel even a little bit better (and it rarely does), he goes into Aisling and finds someone to complain to.}
