2: coffeeshop AU or soulmate AU?
i looooove your very hot coffeeshop AU (rated e folks!) though i think in general i've read more soulmate AUs so i might have to go with soulmate AU haha. some favorites in this area: Count Down by youbuggme on AO3 (a step counter countdown soulmate, like you have this step counter and when it reaches 0 you meet your soulmate, and arya doesn’t want to meet her soulmate whoever it is so she stands still on the sidewalk asdhlsflkj); Dream Until Your Dreams Come True by crossingwinter on AO3 (dream soulmates + baseball); Imagine Me & You by obsessivewriter on AO3 (kind of soulmates? they can read each others' minds); and it sure left its mark on us by ohmytheon on AO3 (soulmate tattoos)
14: what’s your favourite AU setting?
i wrote about three in another ask but i'm going to add a fourth! i think crime/conspiracy AUs are fun for their frequent juxtaposition of normal life (flirting) and danger life (the crime/conspiracy bit). some favorites in this area: Crushes and Conspiracies by Debate on AO3 (80s, feat. baseball, flirting, and together thwarting an assassination attempt on catelyn); Whiskey and Tango by supernatasha on AO3 (here the crime is just running and selling alcohol during 20s prohibition lol); The Wolf’s Vengeance series by Smediterranea on AO3 (gendry doesn't know he's in a crime AU); and Hurt Somebody by treaddelicately on AO3 (arya's in trouble for helping sansa via stabbing joffrey, and she goes to gendry)
also user Chash on AO3 has four really interesting gendrya fics, all very unique AUs that are each almost their own category!
thank you for sending this ask! revisiting (briefly) all of these fics made me excited about writing again
