REMUS IS BEING MEAN TO ME CAN YOU YELL AT HIM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

My therapy says I have gad, which makes sense. I get nervous when I’m lone and I always picture worse case scenarios. I started looking at posts on here about gad, though, and they don’t seem the same. I don’t know if it’s one of those everyone experience it differently things or not, but a lot of people seem to relate to things I don’t. I actually relate to other neurodivergences better sometimes, but that doesn’t explain the nerveness.
hey anon,
everyone’s going to experience and have different symptoms of GAD. how my GAD acts isn’t necessarily going to be how yours acts. my GAD is complicated by my bipolar disorder, my adhd, and my PTSD. yours might be complicated by other disorders which is why you find you can’t relate to other situations like people around you can.
you can’t compare how your disorder makes you feel to other people’s disorders when theirs too is going to be experienced differently due to their life circumstances. by trying to force yourself to try to relate to very specific posts you’re doing yourself a disservice. i’m not encouraging you to not engage with the community of other people with GAD but please keep in mind that all mental illnesses are going to be experienced differently based on the other disorders coexisting with them or just people’s general environments. someone living in rural california will have a different experience than someone living in an urban midwestern city even if they have the same disorder. that doesn’t even get into their family situation, their racial concerns, their sexuality/gender concerns, and all the other things that go into making those people’s lives different.
you are you and your disorder was diagnosed based on meeting a set of criteria that your therapist felt that you did. maybe you’ll find that you also have another disorder in addition to them, or maybe you have life situations that impact your GAD to make it work differently than others. that doesn’t make you any less or more valid.
i hope this helps,
maya
TBFOCW you're undiagnosed because hurricane María forced you to cancel the intake appointment, and now the stress of living in post-María PR has your mood swinging from suicidal yesterday to giddy playful today and the worst part is no one around you is paying enough attention to notice your instability, like can I get a plane outta here and a therapist appointment stat or? (Btw my family and I are alright but do keep sending help to those who aren't. My soul hurts for my island.)
hey anon,

i feel like fanfics vs books in itself is an over simplification. i've read some books from like middle aged women publish through small companies that have typos and are really, really shit. and then there's fanfiction that don't start a new paragraph with different speakers. i think fanfiction is just more,,,consumable. it's free, you can filter to specific tastes (friends to lovers, angst, pwp etc), and you're already in love with the characters.
guy it’s like 1am so i’m just going to say i get what you’re saying but if you knew me you’d know that i already complain about that in published novels
what i’m specifically talking about is people placing a higher value on fanfiction because again
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THOSE SERIES IN THE FIRST PLACE IF NOT THROUGH READING A BOOK more likely than not or something that was based on a book!
and i could go on and on about this devaluation process and how additionally there is legit no profits to be gained from writing fanfiction which again i have complained about in depth a lot on a regular basis like….
iunno i just am tired and i don’t want you to think i’m like yelling at you but at this culture that is devaluing the written words and while doing that wants to consume fanfics WITHOUT supporting the writers and while i’m never gonna wanna be paid for writing fanfics (p sure that’s illegal) i also am like ‘???’ in general about this whole ‘writing for free’ thing that fanfiction encourages which…is getting off topic
tldr; yes it’s an oversimplification but oh my god it’s 1am what do you expect from me i hope it’s not something more than complaining
