So... I have some scrapped sketches that I want to show you.

So we’ve got five characters (FIVE) that I honestly was kind of afraid of in the past due to their appearance (for some reason)...

...and to add a bit more confusion onto myself, I drew this drawing of Sneech using psychic powers to lift a glass. Why I drew that was beyond me...

... except for SOME REASON, I had this head canon that Eddie flies over to Japan, meets Doraemon and company, is like “hey Sneech, you wanna be my partner in crime or something?”, and then Sneech was okay with this. And then some yo-kai or something makes him into a psychic, and so he and Eddie (and his friends) go on misadventures where Sneech gets to hang out with them while hiding the fact that he’s a psychic.

Okay guys, I have something important to tell you all...

I HAVE drawn Yo-kai Watch before.

Several years ago, I had made Yo-kai Watch drawings, usually having Nate in most of them (I didn’t like drawing Bear or even Eddie at that time because I thought of them as jerks with ugly faces, and Katie- at her worst- just made me facepalm).

My imagination went wild on how his story would go, especially with this OC I made named Sue-per Starr (who- btw- I admit that she was a magical Mary Sue), even if it meant giving Nate some evil counterpart at some point.

Unfortunately, a lot of the pictures- ideas, looks and all- were kind of ugly, if not stupidly cringeworthy. But hey, I guess many artists were beginners from the start, but they grow and improve. Besides, to justify all this, I was a kid around the time (8 to 10 years old at these times), so I didn’t realize how bad my art was until when I was older and when I was making art that wasn’t really as bad.

After a crisis of drawing a lot of bad art, I started going after other fandoms like WarioWare and Kirby Right Back at Ya, and even Cuphead. Looking back on my Yo-kai Watch drawings one day, however, they were most likely the reason why I decided to start drawing Yo-kai Watch characters again.

I also went out of my way to conquer my fear of drawing Bear and Eddie by drawing faces that were suitable for me but looked similar to what their faces looked like in the anime. As I kept drawing, I was self-taught in how to draw the characters, and my art got better.

But then came the dreaded idea that I had at that time that didn’t make me realize that I made a big mistake until I was nearly too late.

And that was the time when I made the Keitanchi AU.

At first, I wanted it to be way darker. Make Nate more mysterious, have Eddie reluctantly join him in some battle against the forces of evil that reside in the yo-kai world.

Instead, what we got was... this.

What exactly was 13-year-old me thinking? No one actually knew, but I didn’t realize how much of a mess it was until I started talking about it on this Amino. People didn’t really like the idea that I shipped Nate and Eddie, and I felt ashamed by that.

I only went deeper into the rabbit hole when I also found out how much of a Gary Stu I turned Nate into, not to mention that his obsession with Eddie (as well as Eddie trying really hard to make him go away from his life). So yeah, in short, that’s what made me wholly regret making Keitanchi, but I had also came up with something else for an AU, and that is- YOU GUESSED IT!

...the My Friend’s Friends AU.

Inspired by a fan fiction I read about Eddie, Bear, and Katie defending Nate from an evil figure, I decided to make an AU that focuses on not just the yo-kai but also on Class 5-2 and their relationships with them.

This also gave me an opportunity for me to create some character development, such as making Eddie from oblivious to paranoid (much like Keisuke from Shadowside) to developing Katie and Nate’s relationship towards each other, heck I had the most fun with BEAR, considering that I made him mischievous, yet caring (and a meme).

I had also made a few other AUs, such as a joke AU where everything is seemingly the same except everyone’s character roles were swapped, a Danganronpa AU where Eddie is a protagonist with an ahoge, a Gacha Club version of My Friend’s Friends, and an AU called “Forgotten” which ironically was pretty much forgotten by you guys (although that doesn’t stop me from actually thinking about it).

All in all, this entire journey from drawing for fun to drawing for you guys was a really big one, and I can’t wait to find out what’s up ahead for us all. Until next time, farewell everyone!!

Keitanchi, but Nate and Eddie starting out as friends having an awkward conversation (Nate doesn’t really know how to word things right)

So this scene is pretty canon. I HAVE fixed the AU so that things were being taken a bit slower instead of just being straight up toxic like I’m a total fujoshi*. The story this time isn’t about someone who’s constantly pushing someone who cares about him away; now it’s about someone who doesn’t want to succumb to an accidental but life-changing mistake he made and needs someone else’s help to turn his life around.

When Nate wishes to have his special someone to fall in love with him, the watch gets confused and makes almost everyone fall in love with him instead (or it DID know who Nate was talking about, but it was self-aware that he’s playing with her feelings and wanted to teach him a lesson). Few people weren’t as affected, but they were instead converted into different, much stranger changes, one of them being Eddie. Due to the wish, he was cautious about love. So much to the point that whenever someone gives what even seems like a “hint” of it to him, he gets flustered and starts to think that they’re flirting with him.

Nate of course encounters him at a cafeteria and, knowing that he doesn’t seem to be talking to him, sits next to him. He doesn’t think of him as obsessed with him like many others. The two warmed up to each other and Nate asks that they meet at the school rooftop afterwards. At sunset, they meet each other there and had a little chat.

Nate explained that he cursed himself with a wish, saying that he meant to have someone he knows to fall in love with him, but now has to deal with an entire harem. He then asks Eddie if he can help him make his whole life turn back to where it was, but Eddie (at first) declines it and walks away. This won’t be the last time Nate would ask the same question, though...

That’s all I’ve got. I might be working on it more, but that’s all I’m going to tell you for now. Until then, bye bye!
