So me and @koomatee celebrated Kekri (old Finnish + Karelia harvest festival. Not really commonly celebrated anymore but we are trying to bring back some of it to our lifes)

We had to do it in video call since we dont live near each other. And we decided we should make some kekri masks (goats)

And I really wanted to make one thats cartoony but creepy (since kekri masks were pretty creepy) but it just came out cute af and Leino's was very cool but fucking nightmare material so

Once again this rings true

Kekri is an ancient Finnish and Karelian celebration at the end of the harvest season and the cycle of the year. Today, it is celebrated in some places by the burning of the giant, so-called Kekri goat (Kekripukki).

Kekri on mielenkiintoinen juhla, jota kannustan itse elävöitettäväksi takaisin. Se merkkaa alkuperäistä suomalaista vuoden vaihtumisaikaa, siinä on mukana viikko liminaalista haahuilua vanhan ja uuden vuoden välissä, kuolleita, kekripukki, kekrijuhla ja kaikenlaista mikä epäilytti luterilaista kirkkoa niin paljon, että 1800-luvulla kekriä vietettiin salaa ladoissa piilossa kirkonmiehiltä, ja 1900-luvulla teollistumisen alkaessa Suomessa kekri siirtyi kaupungissa joulukuun lopulle. Kekri! Siis niin siisti juhla. Nuoriso, ottakaa kekri itsellenne.
