PRACTITIONER RESEARCH - KELLI MURRAY: Kelli Murray is an illustrator, graphic designer, fashion lover and craft connoisseur. She grew up in California and graduated from FIDM with a degree in Product Development and Merchandising. She then worked as head graphic designer for a clothing company in San Diego and when she wasn’t designing, she was practising art and illustration. In 2009 she started her blog to share artwork and since 2011, she’s been a full-time freelancer and has launched a children’s clothing line, inspired by her own children.
Murray describes herself as “creative and passionate”.
I love the soft, feminine feel that Kelli Murray’s artwork has, it’s very sweet and dainty with muted (but not dull) colours. I really like her style of illustration, which is slightly cartoony, like children’s book illustrations. I also love the innocence that’s portrayed in her drawings. Her art is quirky and cute and I’d like to use her style as inspiration for my festival design.
