Joyce Cooper is a retired public school teacher who spent 18 years in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. This book addresses how mental health in teen is impacted by gun violence, school shootings, and everyday life challenges. This historical and realistic fiction takes readers through the junior year on four high school students who are faced with challenges but rise through their adversities to create a better world for themselves and future generations. Joyce has been featured on Fox News stations in both Carolinas. She has been the featured guests on several radio shows to discuss the issues of mental health, student academic achievement, and the impact gun violence has on students and teachers. She has founded YAMHA – Young Adult Mental Health Alliance. 10% of the proceeds from her book goes directly to the nonprofit to provide mental health counseling, parenting skills, and personal development for people ages 18-30.
