i got the titan chest piece i can die happy
But they couldnât
âThe two of us? We can handle anything!â Elijah would live to regret those words. He would live to regret his cockiness. He would live to regret his ego. He would live to regret the lives lost. He would live to regret that he made it out unscathed. He would live to regret that his brother did not.
Six of them had ventured into the Hellmouth, in the hopes of putting an end to Crota. They were all so sure of themselves and their abilities. They were all so young. If they worked together how hard could it be, right? Thatâs all that had run through Elijahâs mind on their descent. He trusted his own power to carry them through, and he knew his brother Edix had no shortage of strength. He was so sure that they would all make it out of there alive. He was so wrong. âIncoming on your left!â Wise, his ghost, alerted him in the midst of their battle. In the back of his mind, he felt bad for Wise; he was pushing the little ghost to its limits keeping him up in the fight. Everything was so dark, everywhere he looked there seemed to be a threat, and more importantly they were three guardians down and taking a real beating. From the second theyâd entered they had been overwhelmed by the Hive, with wave upon wave hitting them with the full force of Crotaâs might. Even with their light it was quickly apparent they stood no chance in this battle as they were. That revelation should have been the moment that they fled, but Elijah was as stubborn as they come, and it would cost them almost everything. The fourth guardian fell. Elijah had seen plenty of people die, it came with the job of course, though the difference was that they always got up again. Not this time. The twins could only spare a second to watch the poor hunter vanish in a swarm of acolytes, before they were back to defending their own lives with every ounce of light they could spare. No time to grieve, or regret. That would come later. âWe have to go, Eli!â Edix yelled once again, this time the desperation in his voice catching his brothersâ attention. Elijah had no real defence for staying, their fates would surely be gruesome if they didnât manage to flee. The only solution he could see was to summon fourth what remained of his strength, letting his light spark into fearsome discharges of arc energy flowing from his hands. He had to clear a path. He had to get his brother out safely, his own life be damned. No tactics or rational thoughts made their way to his mind in that moment, all he cared about was tasting at least a fraction of victory on their way out. Elijah rained down carnage upon the oncoming swarms of Hive as he led his twin back along the path theyâd fought so hard to get through. All that effort wasted. Maybe, if they could just hold out a little bit longer, if he could find just a little more strength- âELIJAH, MOVE!â The sound of ripping flesh was all he heard as he was shoved to the ground. Confusion swelled in him; was he hurt? He didnât feel any pain. He didnât remember seeing anything get close enough to touch him. Edix on the other hand⊠Edix. Edix! Elijah turned just soon enough to watch his brother fire a round into the face of a thrall he hadnât even noticed behind him. Not soon enough to stop it from tearing into his face, instead of his own back. He managed to stumble to his brother, collecting his scattered thoughts and racing heart amongst the mayhem, and loop his brothersâ arm around his shoulders. He couldnât lose him. Not here. Not now. Not ever. The extent of his injury was of no large concern to Elijah in that moment after. They were so close to the surface now, so close to making it out. He did the best he could to clear the rest of the path ahead as his brother staggered behind, barely conscious. Against all the odds, they both managed to claw their way to safety. They had survived, where so many had fallen. They had survived⊠But at what cost?
Edix fell unconscious not soon after they had fled the moon and remained that way for several days back at the tower. His ghost did all it could to help him, so did the others back within the walls, though ultimately he would bare the scars of that terrible battle for the rest of his life. He would bare the scars of Elijahâs shortcomings. Elijah felt the weight of that most of all. The extent of his mistakes grew ever clearer once the dust had settled, and it all but broke the young warlockâs heart. Four good guardians had died to keep him alive, his own brother had taken a life changing hit to protect him, and all he could wonder was âdid I deserve it?â. Sitting at his brothersâ bedside, as he remembered the guardians they had lost in the fight, as they pondered whether Edix would ever see again, he wondered whether he deserved all the sacrifices made for his sake. Elijah made a promise to his brother that night, that from then on no one would have to make a sacrifice for him again. Because in the end, he decided he didnât deserve it.
So I totally got bored and rambled out an angsty drabble thing about the fabled Hellmouth Incident from Elijahâs perspective. Edix belongs to @lordshaxxion

All my other OC's: "hey wouldn't it be awesome if you developed/played as us a bit more?" My dumb ass: "......... Anyway here's more from Elijah-"
