some things i would like to see are some early kemono fursuits (idk how long theyve been a thing but), some sea creature fursuits/ocean themed stuff (?), food themed stuff, and some fanmade pokemon species :) thank you hope this wasnt too long of a list lol
For now, i am going to answer the Kemono request:
This was tricky, since most early stuff about anthro fandom in Japan is, of course, in Japanese. But here is what i found (thanks to Wikifur): Furry cons became a thing in Japan quite a bit after the first furry convention ever (1989). The first one being Transfur, running from 2005-2007, followed by Kemocon, which began in 2008 and is still ongoing!
Something I'd like to note is that while "Kemono", to many, refers to a specific "cutesy" art style, to Japanese fans i believe it's synonymous with anthro art in general. So it's safe to say that it's been "a thing" since the very founding of Japan, but i'd guess that the style you're thinking of owes it's popularization to Kimba the White Lion.
(First photo is Transfur ??, Second is Kemocon 2008. You can see a Ton more pictures from past Kemocons here, and i'll probably be uploading more because there's some very cute suits. ^_^)
*Edit: i removed the source for the first image because the site had some things i don't condone
