From a prompt of a happily ever after for a femslash couple, I decided to draw Kendappa ou and Souma from CLAMP's first manga, RG Veda. Since it's about giving a happy ending to wlw couples, I gave them the happy ending they never got in canon (but I desperately wanted them to have and still not over how it actually turned out) by drawing them getting married, wearing the finest red and gold sarees (I had great fun drawing these). I specifically bought gold ink for this drawing, because they deserved it. These two were probably the first wlw canon couple I ever experienced in anime/manga, so I knew the couple I wanted to draw for, was them, because I love them both individually and as a couple.

Kendappa is one of my favorite Problematic Favorite™s

I noticed there's a trend of 80's anime/manga sun god characters, who all are very mysterious, cunning, powerful and deceptive. They all come from notable royal families, are admired and well liked widely by others because they're attractive and outwardly appear friendly, but secretly on the inside, lies a darker, detached and even malicious side to them, that is hinted at throughout their respective stories. This allows them to hide their secrets about who they really are, their dark pasts and intentions in the future. They're all pretty villanous at times with Apollo being a clear cut antagonist, but Kendappa and Amaterasu are generally seen as the protagonists, but have their moments where they can be classfied as antagonists in the story. The reason why I counted Kendappa, is because in tsubasa resevoir chronicles, she is a sun goddess, in the form of Amaterasu and because her personality and role in the plot bears similarities.

This part of Tsubasa is one of my favorites because, even if I have long since lost track of what is happening, it’s full of my favorite characters: Kendappa, Tomoyo, Seishiro, Kurogane, Souma...it’s missing some but it’s still an impressive line up.

Anyway. Inspired by this (and by the fact that at Seishiro’s arrival Kendappa isn’t even a little intimidated), I wanted two of CLAMP’s worst double faced characters to acknowledge each other (even if Kendappa’s thoughts are more like “I respect you and your work but if you ever think of harming Souma I Will Cut You. I have a sword”)

(also I changed Seishiro’s design a little, because, how we say in Italy, nun se po’vedè = it’s unwatchable)(basically I just drew him as a teenager like we see him in the TB flashback and took away that horrible necklace/pendant...I don’t care if it’s plot relevant (is it?), it needs to go)
