Buying Rap Albums And Being True To Yourself
Daily we bring you the best music we can dig out in this over flooded internet era and it's not as easy as it might seem. But let's for once discuss the problems we are facing, the direction Hip-Hop is going in and the generation change, the digital era that changed things in just a few years more than ever, ever since commercial music was being released on vinyl for the first time.
I am a 30 year old male, a huge fan of Hip-Hop and music in general for about 20 years already. I've been through all the changes, starting with cassette tapes, moved to the CD's and than to mp3's , but when physical releases lost it's value ('cause who really listen to the music on CD player anymore) album sales drastically dropped and it affected a whole lot of things. I can write about this subject for hours, but in 2014 attention span is short enough that most of the people probably already scrolled away when they saw "this much" text on Tumblr.
That's why I posted this interview with Kendrick, 'cause I know you would rather listen to what he had to say and he said some really smart things regarding this subject and some other things that are connected to album sales one way or another. If you don't want to listen to the whole interview that is mainly focused on his new single "I" and his upcoming album that I am eagerly waiting just like you, you can move to the last 5 minutes of the interview, it has a really strong point.
Also you can read this short text via Smoking Section on the subject.
I just wanted to be a good camper and point out some really important things that are not talked about enough. I am also interested to hear your opinion. Peace!
