KENHINA WEEK DAY 2: ANXIETY

Kenma's teammates knew not to bug him when he went off alone. Until it was time for warm ups or Coach Nekomata had to speak to him, he was to be left to himself. 

He pulled the tips of his hair gently in front of his eyes and tried to do some stupid breathing exercise Yamamoto had demonstrated to him on the bus. It was funny watching him try and prep Kenma for the day. He'd announced at the end of their second year he would be looking out for him in Kuroo's place from now on. 

It was sweet (almost), but that didn't change the fact that he wasn't Kuroo. And while each game without Kuroo got easier, it was the pre-game period that was the hardest, especially at big games. 

And what game was bigger than nationals? 

His fingers started to cramp and he realized he'd been twisting his strands together too hard. He let go and slumped his head against the wall. Breathe, man! Like this! 

Stupid Yamamoto. 

When his cell phone went off, he flinched. Was it time for warm ups already? The game before theirs just started. He needed more time. 

Oh. 

Kenma lurched forward and unlocked his phone. 

Shouyo

> KENMA!! OUR GAME JUST ENDED. WHERE ARE YOU?

A few seconds later, another. 

>NEVERMIND I FOUND LEV! I'M COMING. 

Kenma smiled. His teammates weren't  allowed to bug him, but he allowed some leniency when it came to specific middle blockers. As long as they had the rights stats. 

Speed? Maxed Out. 

Stamina? Maxed Out. 

Smile? Definitely maxed out. 

He heard the footsteps speeding towards the secluded hallway he'd found and stood up before Shouyo even turned the corner. 

He stopped short when he did, smiling heavily as if finding him was his greatest accomplishment to date. 

You're not breathing right, Kenma! 

Kenma let out a breath and smiled back at his friend. "Hey, Shouyo."

Shouyo's presence wouldn't erase his unease or magically take away the pressure in his chest, but for a moment he felt light. Shouyo settled on him like morning light peeking through the window and warming up his cheeks. 

"I brought you something!" He looked so proud of himself. 

"Yeah? Let me see." 

From the stands, nobody would be able to make out the good luck charm on the bench during Nekoma's games, or the way their setter would clutch is tenderly during every time out. 

Man, just think of your happy place and breathe, Kenma! 

His happy place? How lame. Thinking of a person was much more effective.

A Cocoon of Us

Kenhinaweek Day 1: Tickles.

Hinata always longs to be in Kenma's arms. He is not opposed to the idea.

No matter that Hinata was still sweaty after his morning run, Kenma arms where always full of him the moment the redhead returned home.

Kenma wasn’t a heavy sleeper. The moment Hinata left their bed the loss of his warmth and toned arms curling around him brought him to reality. Sulking, Kenma quickly pulled the mantle around him forming a cocoon and tried to block out Hinata’s loud footsteps. 

At first he even tried to join him twice to his running routine,( “The power of love” Kuroo had manage to said after almost choking with laughter while sharing drinks) but his stamina and night persona were not the best combo for a running partner. Especially in the mornings.

He set for him when both of them had their afternoon free thought. Kuroo occasionally manage to brought Tsukishima and Bokuto had Akaashi and some jackals invited along from time to time. But more than anything it was just the two of them having fun with volleyball.

It turned out that after his time on Brazil Hinata had become more clingy than ever seeking for lots of affection and how could Kenma deny his wishes? He was more than happy to oblige.

 Skype calls were not enough for their time apart and they surely made up for the lost time. And now he turned to be starved from his attention that his own body couldn’t deal to broke apart each other. It was like his mere presence was charging his batteries for the next day.

He felt the time pass slow, the notifications that lights his phone tempt him, but he knows better. He is used for his sleep to be cut off now, but that doesn’t mean it stopped to suck. Shouyo will be home soon, so he waits.

And when the heavy sound of footsteps returns after a loud bang of the door Kenma had  little time to prepare himself for entrance of his soulmate. Hinata dives from an opening of his cocoon self and crawls on top of him under the mantle, his movements making him squirm and laugh as his hands touched both of his side.

“You are so sensitive.” Hinata murmurs at the base of his neck when he settles in their embrace.

“And you smell.” points back Kenma.

Hinata tickles him in vengeance.
