Summary:
"I’m just happy to hear me and Makoto are inspiring people to wanna run! … But it’s not an easy thing to get into if you’re not used to it.” Mamoru grinned, now that he knew what was going on. Makoto was such a cool dude, no surprise his close friends would wanna be like him. But he wasn’t going to throw someone in the deep end from the beginning just because they saw someone run really well.
“I know, I haven’t been in any sports since middle school. But if Makoto can do it, while doin’ all the other stuff he does, then I might be able to do half as good if I just try… right?” Kenji seemed to deflate, rubbing an arm as his eyes wandered again. Mamoru moved closer to clap a hand onto his new teammate’s shoulder, grin just as bright.
“That’s the spirit! You may not have some secret natural talent, but most people don’t. Hard work, and most of all consistency, will get you farther than anything.”
“Hah… if the celebrity track star says so, it must be pretty true, huh?” He seemed to finally relax, looking up to look Mamoru firmly in the eye.
