A small but important piece of user experience design in Planescape: Torment comes through in dialogue, where dialogue can span pages with each encounter, but before the next line comes, the player must always select their response- even if only one option is available. This allows lines to be fully displayed and for the player to read them at their leisure, an important distinction given in a game with so much text. In addition, theT player’s choices are almost always kept to a single line of text, and privileged information that it may be disadvantageous to reveal is often marked in some way (such as “Truth” when all the other options are omissions or lies).
