An Excellent Mentor

A mentor is someone who is good at listening, not afraid of giving feedback and knows when to let you be on your own and when to give guidance. A good mentee is someone who can take the feedback, isn't afraid to make mistakes and can learn from it.

Throughout the week at Gannet Fleming, Huzefa, has been a very engaged mentor. He has had us go to different meetings, tours and some site visits in order to get us to understand how the firm works. He also has given us projects then we will have meetings discussing what we found and how we can move forward in the future. We also got very valuable feed back when he looked at our resumes, portfolios and even our map site. He has been and excellent mentor and made our time here wonderful and engaging.

Workplace (Can)Drive

The first day at Gannett Fleming NYC was great! Everyone we met was friendly and open to talking about projects and even daily life. The open atmosphere and size of each workspace was open enough to allow for collaboration between co-workers but intimate enough to not be distracted by others.

We were invited to be apart of a meeting for charity project called "Canstruction." Canstruction is a global non-profit charity were a group will create a structures out of full cans of food which is donated to local foodbanks. I believe being apart of this is a great way to experience teambuilding within the firm while also being able to give something back to the community.

My name is Kenneth Joe Gorham, Jr. I am about to start my second semester in the Masters of Architecture program at the BAC! I am originally from a small town of Stow, Massachusetts. I want to be apart of a community that helps each other grow and pushes one another to be the best they can be.
