Kenshis close with Syzoth in this AU, it’s implied they could’ve been partners years ago when they sailed together, but Kenshi never fully returned the feels so they drifted away from it, now they’re just close friends who care for one another 👍 I’ll eventually write these scenes out in ramble form most likely but that’s the basic idea of them-

Syzoth/Kenshi blurb

For quite some time, Syzoth has been wondering why he retained his human form for so long despite of his fears of connecting with humans for how short-lived they might be, and he would be the only one who remembered those moments like it was only yesterday. He was a loyal Emissary to Outworld, allowing him to travel and build relationships in every other realms with ease, and a very proud Zaterran. And yet, he couldn't lay his eyes off of Earthrealm. He still had his minds wrapped around the fact that no Zaterrans were found in the Living Forest, but the government records have erased the shapeshifters like him from their history. Would there be any survivors? Zaterrans were known to be so good at hiding that people may never noticed their presence, which could be easy for Syzoth to believe his shapeshifting quirks were made not to blend in with environments, but to blend within a crowd of humans. To Outworlders, he would stick out like a sore thumb. Earthrealmers, on the other hand, would never tell the difference. At least, not unless they choose to look closer. Could there be Zaterran survivors in Earthrealm?

Kenshi was finally hired as a Special Agent for Outworld Investigation Agency(OIA), in partnership with an Interpol agent, Jackson "Jax" Briggs. As Kenshi told his stories about Outworld, they agreed to propose a project that turned their mission into reality: interdimensional portal gate.

It certainly made the government run out of their money, but the project was approved thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency(DOGE) that replaced Department of Education for their budget allocation.

Their first prototype is finally built, and all they need is to redirect all electricity that powers the state of Arizona into the portal. Kenshi kneeled and pray this portal could bring something from another dimension, but despite of causing a power blackout for five hours, the portal lights up, yet nothing came out of it. Kenshi and Jax took years and hundreds of researchers to work on it but that prototype caused the project to be immediately shut down by DOGE. Kenshi lost his job once again.

Kenshi went back to his apartment, packing his bags to move out. He heard something slithering in the darkness. Despite of his blindness, he choose to switch the light on, a hiss was heard. But where did it come from? He readied Sento on his hand, with his vision revealing a familiar sight under neath his bed frame.

"A giant lizard?"

A giant lizard crawled out of the bed,

"Kenshi?" He growled.

"What the—" he had a quick glance on the giant lizard. A familiar bandage was still attached to his left arm. "Syzoth?!"

"KENSHI!" Syzoth jumped in excitement and shift his form to a presentable human form. "Finally a familiar face! I thought I would get myself lost in this realm!"

"Lost?"

"I was at the library, reading through government archives. Suddenly a portal sucked me in and before I know it, I'm already here!"

"A portal?"

"I'm not so familiar with the portal's color, and there were so many humans outside. I would assume this is... Earthrealm?"

"It worked..." Kenshi muttered.

"You made it work! Even better!" Syzoth hugged Kenshi tightly. "That means you can make the portal send me home, yes?"
