UDF Returns to Power in Kerala, VD Satheesan to Take Oath as Chief Minister on Monday
A new political chapter is set to begin in Kerala as V. D. Satheesan prepares to take oath as the state’s new Chief Minister on Monday morning. Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Satheesan finalized and submitted the cabinet list to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
Speaking to the media, Satheesan said the United Democratic Front (UDF) completed cabinet discussions within 24 hours, calling it a historic moment for Kerala politics. He emphasized that the alliance remained united even after the election victory, allowing the government formation process to move swiftly.
The new cabinet will largely be dominated by the Indian National Congress, with 11 ministers from the Congress quota. Senior leaders including Ramesh Chennithala, K. Muraleedharan, and Sunny Joseph are among those set to join the ministry.
Political observers believe the new UDF government will face immediate challenges related to Kerala’s economy and infrastructure development. The swearing-in ceremony is being viewed as the beginning of a major political transition in the state.
