He was not just made like a Greek boy, all long limbs and light muscles. It was not just that his face had the fine-cut purity of a marble by Michelangelo, though others spoke of a Canova Eros in Venice. His eyes, admittedly, were like sapphires and his hair—a little too long, reaching his collarbones—like spun gold. He was a veritable masterpiece of the Divine art. But mere beauty alone would not have been enough to enchant a sceptical, irreligious city like Paris, as he had done. Gerald rose and came to take her hand, and Phryne felt it again. A flood of love, of attention, a focused wave of empathy. His charisma preceded his person by at least ten paces in every direction. Gerald could have led an army to free Jerusalem.
--Kerry Green, Murder in the Dark (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries)
I have watched 3 seasons of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Netflix and I loove the show (a free-wheeling renaissance woman in 1920s Australia who solves mysteries and meets *all* the boys 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽). This is the first of the books that I've read, and I am absolutely in love with the author's writing.
Bonus: this passage sure sounds like someone we know and love...

Kat Bjelland, Donita Sparks, Suzi Gardner, Stefanie Sargent, Kerry Green, Gina Volpe, and Sindi Benezra were the best songwriters/guitarists of grunge back then. I hate how they’re either overlooked by male grunge bands or Courtney Love (who can’t even play the guitar well and has been known to steal lyrics from multiple people). They should be the faces of punk of that era.
CAMBODGE: Exquisite hand-woven silk by Kerry Green
Fabrics are like paintings in that they make a strong statement about the inhabitant of a place. They also have a great influence on the atmosphere. They not only need to function but be decorative as well. And, most of all, they need to create the kind of environment that makes you happy.
Happy is exactly how I felt this past Friday as designer Kerry Green started to pull her line of Cambodian silks out of her bag. The silks - with their bold colors, eye catching patterns, and luxurious hand are certain to make a home fun and memorable. We all know my affinity for textiles and CHAMBODGE is no exception. These are definitely on my must have list! These beautiful hand-woven silks are available through her website www.cambodgecollection.com
