For those that may be wondering: wouldn’t Kestrel being able to talk to her god on the phone make her extremely OP?

No! Hope has no idea what they’re doing and neither does Kestrel. A short list of things that have happened:

The time Hope resurrected Kestrel (origin story) and had to slapdash put her back together, making her Extremely Fucked Up for Awhile

The time Hope made Kestrel explode

The time Hope struck Kestrel with lightning

The time Hope made Kestrel grow wings overnight (accidental)

The time Kestrel and the party bard created Hope’s holy symbol, causing both to leak ectoplasmic goo. They both got abilities from this, but it was also fucked up

The many cosmetic changes Kestrel has taken on, because of Hope (accidental)

The time Hope won a contested charisma check against Ilmater, resulting in Kestrel getting struck by lightning, and then, once again, exploding

Most of these wound up fine or even good in the end, but there is almost 0 level of control here and the vast majority of shit that happens to Kestrel is completely randomized or totally unintentional 😂

Oh so the sword that killed Kestrel the first time used to be a guy and that guy was originally killed by her angelic ancestor and that’s why it broke killing her so that’s cool

Well Kestrel has truesight now

Love making Kestrel increasingly more bird-like in visuals but also mannerisms as she gets progressively more angel-y anyway I have made it canon that she chirps a little when she’s excited or very happy

We finally got to find out what happens if Kestrel dies and turns out it’s goddamn terrifying but it’s ok she came back don’t worry about it
