It's been a wonderful year playing in my longest running D&D game, so I put together a bunch of custom cards for the crew using all the various art we've made or had commissioned! Many custom cards and a bunch of reprints for funsies - under the cut cause it's too dang long. Please enjoy!
Me first! Lila (nee Echo nee the Bat Lord), my archfey sorceress who exploded. She's since been running around trying to put herself back together, hiding out as a halfling where necessary. Girl loves to gamble, even in combat. What is life without a little fun? So long as you can stack the deck.
God's goopiest paladin, our aasimar vigil Kestrel. As a vigil she was born with someone to protect, like a guardian angel, and died trying to do so. A young god took pity and brought her back, getting captured in the process. First on a mission to save and now protect her new god, the Wings of Hope, she'll always go out of the way to protect those around her.
As a child, Abigail was swallowed by a hag and "saved" by a troupe of heroes before she could be fully transformed into one herself. Little did she know the deal was a sham and she'd start transforming later down the line. Starting her adventuring to free herself of this "curse" she is now of two minds - quite literally. One on its original journey, the other wanting to accept its new self. If her two halves could come together, what wonders could she achieve?
A "very real elf girl" as she describes herself, Ivie was originally a construct, created to care for young dragons. Over time she developed a consciousness that was not at all intended by her creator. Her mother decided to support her and worked with the mage's guild to bring her to a real flesh and blood reality. Now she travels to discover the world and herself, including psychic powers and a draconic spirit as her ally!
Originally assigned to our party as community service for firebombing a state church, Elodie is the fiery heart of the party, her solid presence holding us together, frequently quite literally. She works on behalf of the downtrodden halfling people to steal from the rich and bring a balance to things.
Eclipse, the last member of our merry band, briefly replaced Abigail as the goddess Shar shredded her soul to remake her as a cleric and spy. While originally faithful to Shar, she gained autonomy and escaped as she learned to cherish those around her. The two were safely separated and she now works as a cleric of the Wings of Hope. She excels at protecting and empowering those around her, especially her paladin friend.
We've of course had many allies along the way! Garibald has been our primary host in the capital, sharing in our schemes and finding love with Ivie. Sardayn is a demi-god ruler of a foreign country who was herself once imprisoned in the way that the Wings of Hope was. Shanalotte is a shadow dragon and cleric of the Raven Queen. She's now engaged to Kestrel! Hope themself is a god of rebirth but also just 10. They're learning to live life while we figure out how to get them home.
The "former" king of the nation we act in. King Gehrelt was well over a hundred when we started the game. He captured Hope and used their power to have himself reborn in a new body, causing simultaneous deaths and rebirths across the capitol. The young "heir" is now aging rapidly toward adulthood, proclaiming himself a miracle of Pelor.
Our first true villain was Sweet Sister Mavis, the hag who swallowed Abigail. Working for her were the three heroes who "saved" her. Each made a deal with her that she quickly twisted cruelly - Fame but no truth to the deeds, Riches quickly stolen, Power with matching weakness.
Most recently we faced Mordhalin, an ancient black dragon sorceress. While we did defeat her, she may cause future problems if we can't help her get her children back.
And of course, a variety of reprints with appropriate art! Please enjoy them all!
Cheers to my wonderful party @hazoret, @firemagerat, @foxcoloredcat, and of course our DM @maris-solstice!
The party recently discovered Kestrel's divine calling put into place by her angelic ancestor thousands of years ago; free a host of angels held captive by the devil that killed her before the story began.
“I guess I never really thought about it. The ramifications of bonding with a god. I just saw a child who was scared and alone and needed someone, and well… I was the only one who could answer.”
Kestrel very recently found out she's becoming something else. I thought it would be fun to draw what that might look like.
