I’ve been rereading the Valdemar books by Mercedes Lackey recently, and felt like doing a little collection of busts since there’s a real lack of fan art for these books. What I really appreciate is her handling of asexuality in her books. No one seems to mind too much that some of her characters don’t end up finding a man and popping out 12 babies, but there are enough that do to make it feel realistic. Anyhow, from left to right, top to bottom: Tarma, Kethry, Jadrek (I may have subconsciously made him look like my Grampa when he was young. Lol), Famous Cousin Warrl, Dirk (not a great likeness, but it’s so hard to draw someone as homely as she describes him in the book without making him look villain-y), Kris, Kerowyn (my fave!), and Talia. These were fun, I may do some more. I think some Hawkbrothers would be a lot of fun! Maybe attempt some gryphons. 😬😬😬 I may also redraw Kethry.
