12th Yule Lad - Ketkrókur Day 23 - Grýla Yule Family series
From Icelandic folklore. Son of the Giant Gryla.
Ketkrókur / Ketkrokur is one of the Yule Lads. The 13 sons of Gryla who come down from the mountain with her and cause all kinds of mischief. While deliver gifts in the shoes of good children. And rotten potatoes in the shoes of bad.
His name translates to the 'meat hook'. Ketkrókur is the 12th to arrive, on Dec 23rd, and the 12th to leave, on Jan 5th. Ketkrókur is a connoisseur of meats who would sneak in and take what her could. He appreciated the best cuts, and best prepared meats to steal. While he would take any meat left out on the table or left up to smoke. He preered the best smoked lamb and fresh cuts. He would hide in the high places of a house, or the darker places and use his at meat hook to carefully steal what he could reach. While cautious and never caught, at times his meat hook was just a bit too short to catch the meats he wanted the most.
