Coming Up in part 4: We get shallow(er) and discuss Brandon’s outfits and looks!
Me and friends with Dave and Mark!
I went to see Dave’s show last night in SF and it was great! He looked really happy and relaxed. It was a fun time. I touched his hand and boot when he reached into the crowd hahaha. He mentioned some of his family was there and Mark was in attendance as well. I took a few videos if anyone is interested to watch, it’s on my instagram ✨
I finally had time to listen to Prismism! Under a cut because it’s kinda long and just my dumb thoughts no one else cares about, but I wanted to put it into words
It’s actually not bad. Musically I really like it; I was surprised by how synth-heavy it was (I definitely expected it to be more guitar-centric), but it has a New Order vibe and I dig it. He clearly knows how to build and craft a good song instrumentally.
I think the lyrics have flashes of brilliance, but overall I was underwhelmed with them. There’s a lot of repetition and simplicity which leaves me not quite satisfied. I feel like a lot of songs just end super abruptly too? Like I’d be listening and suddenly it just ended and a new song was playing.
Obviously my biggest criticism is the vocals, which aren’t bad, but he just doesn’t have the range, so a lot of songs end up sounding similar/repetitive and it lacks a certain amount of emotion/feeling.
A lot of songs I think would have benefited greatly from the full Killers treatment, and honestly it’s a shame they were overlooked for whatever reason. Who knows if they were flat out rejected by the rest of the band or if they would have been revisited at another time, but there are definitely a handful that would have fit nicely in the Killers’ discography.
Overall, it’s not bad. It makes me feel nostalgic. And I’m happy Dave was able to put it out there and be proud of it, but I’m still holding on to the hope that they all can get better at communicating and can all work together for tk6 because when they are firing on all four cylinders? It’s magic.

“Restless Legs” - Keuning
The first solo song from The Killer’s lead guitarist, released in 2018. Recently discovered and a big fan - shows that he was potentially instrumental to the electronic core of Day & Age, possibly my personal favourite The Killers album.
In the present musical climate, I would draw comparisons with The 1975′s latest work (although the vocal delivery varies), in the sense of being rock inspired, but leaning quite nicely on more electronic and synthy inputs. In the song itself, there are sympathisers throughout, a high point being the electronic riff after the first chorus.
Would recommend for those looking for the style described above, as well as being generally upbeat. Greatly looking forward to his debut album Prisism, releasing on the 25th of January, to see what he explores away from The Killers.
