Petitioning DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James
Charge the Cops Who Killed Kevin Davis and Anthony Hill
These are undisputed facts:
On December 29th, 2014, Kevin Davis, 44, called 911 after his girlfriend had been stabbed. When police arrived at the apartment, DeKalb County Police Officer Joseph Pitts shot and killed Kevin's dog and then shot Kevin. They arrested Kevin and took him to the hospital, where he died two days later. Police did not allow Kevin's family to see him in the hospital before he died.
On March 9th, 2015, Anthony Hill, 27, naked and unarmed, was shot and killed at his apartment complex by DeKalb County Police Officer Robert Olsen. Anthony suffered from mental illness and was disoriented at the time he was confronted by Officer Olsen. Olsen shot and killed Anthony shortly after arriving on the scene despite having multiple non-lethal options.
The DeKalb County Civil Grand Jury decided on Thursday, October 29th to recommend no charges be brought against Officer Pitts and were split on whether to recommend charges for Officer Olsen. Both officers were allowed to testify in front of the Grand Jury on their own behalf without cross-examination. Georgia is the only state that affords such a privilege to police, one not granted to private citizens. A recent investigation by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that not one of the 171 police shootings in Georgia since 2010 has gone to trial.
DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James has the full power and authority to bring criminal charges against both officers. The families of Kevin Davis and Anthony Hill have been crying out for justice ever since their loved ones were killed by the DeKalb County Police. We demand that DA Robert James file criminal charges now! Justice for Kevin Davis and Anthony Hill! No more green light for police murder! Killer cops should be indicted, convicted and sent to jail!
