I’m really enjoying these Lost in Space tie-in novels by @kcemerson. He definitely captures the voices of the characters and the survival against the environment tone of the Netflix show, but brings in more of the weird sci fi encounter stuff from the original series. Only without the goofiness. WhenI was a kid, I loved watching reruns of Lost in Space. It gets dismissed by serious science fiction fans, but for me, watching a kid not too much older than me having adventures with his robot best friend mesmerized me. I love that the @Netflix TV series has captured that kid’s adventure thrill while eliminating the more cartoony elements. It’s become a new favorite show, and when I saw this juvenile novel spin-off by @kcemerson at the library, I had to read it. It’s a fun, fast-paced adventure that fits in with the TV series as a side story, without feeling like an inconsequential, self-contained adventure. And there are hints that the story here will continue in maybe future novels (there’s already another out, I think) so that also gives the events in this story some weight and import that you usually don’t see in a tie-in novel. I've always been obsessed with two things: the depths of the ocean and space. So ironically, getting my new #natgeo subscription and this new #kevinemerson book in the same week made my heart happy. I had to steal my #futureastrophysicist daughter's @nasa shirt to round out the set. Also, can I just say how proud I am to have an 8yo who has such big aspirations!?!
