A very short walk…

These were the only two photographs I managed to take while out on a briefer than normal walk yesterday. We took a gamble on the sunshine and showers weather we had yesterday in the hope that we would be spared the showers. Sometimes a gamble pays off and quite a lot of the time it doesn't. Yesterday, the gamble with the weather did NOT pay off and by the time we got a field further on from where the photograph of the tree and clouds were taken, the clouds were dropping their load of rain upon us. A heavy load of rain. A load that penetrated our trousers and soaked through to our skin. At that point, we made a tactical retreat to our favourite riverside local to dry off a bit before heading up the hill to home. You win some, you lose some and all of that…

Keynsham Lock

A swollen Avon, a lock made redundant by rising waters and, the less than salubrious towpath by the canal upstream from the lock. Welcome to Keynsham Lock:)

By the still waters of the Avon

These shots of the Avon were taken from a path that normally wouldn't be passable in March without difficulty. However, a fair few weeks of dry weather, and lower than normal water levels in the Avon for this time of year, made this path easily accessible. Which meant that I was seeing these scenes, which I have photographed a few times in the summer, in a completely different light:)
